If you have fitted a clutch kit then the clutch plate is in the wrong way round and the centre hub is fouling the flywheel bolt heads. If not then there is a possibility that the throw out bearing has failed and not pushing the pressure plate fingers in far enough to stop the clutch input shaft from spinning

SOURCE: transmission problems (gear linkage)

The gear linkages are not correctly aligned.
Is the gearbox mounting in exactly the same place as when you removed it?
Even a 1/4 inch will offset the gears.
hope this helps

Bad syncro for third gear. Sorry, but you aren't fixing this one yourself, unless you replace the transmission yourself.

SOURCE: my ford focus tdi 2003 cant select 1st,3rd or 5th gears.

Car is in limp in mode unless you have the tools to work on automatic transmission you will need to take it to a transmission shop. Of course you can check oil level but I suspect you have other issues.

Why my focus ST2 wont go into gear when the engine is running but will go into 1st, 2nd and 3rd when the engine is not running and not 4th, 5th, 6th &reverse any ideas please will be appreciat

Clutch failure. It could be something as simple as the clutch master cylinder being out or low on fluid or something as expensive as the throw-out bearing needing replaced. Start by checking the clutch master cylinder fluid level.

I have a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire that has problems shifting into gear. (manual trany). Have to force into 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and especially in reverse. Will grind going into reverse. Have to turn off...

Sounds like the clutch is going out. I would check the operation of the clutch slave cylinder. Also check the clutch master cylinder fluid level.

Tranny or clutch?

Suspect would be the clutch. If there is not grinding in any gears 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th and reverse when you give it gas, then i would check the clutch.
