It may not be sealed properly or new housing is not tight or its cracked or it could be a loose hose clamp

SOURCE: Thermostat on 2002 Chevy Impala

the best thing to get is the Haynes manual for your car at advanced auto or autozone or somewhere like that and the book will tell you how to take everything apart and put it back. i think the manual is about $16.00

I am having difficulty locating it. I need to know how to locate and replace a thermostat on a 2002 ford escape

Follow the top radiator hose down to where it connects to the engine. You should find a dome shape item or a couple of smaller bolts that attach to the engine to the side of the radiator hose and the thermostat will be inside the housing. You will need to drain the radiator, remove the bolts holding the thermostat housing to the engine and remove the old stat and put in a new one be sure to make note of how the stat is facing when you remove it and put the new one in the same way. then reconnect the thermostat housing making sure the gasket is in place so it won't leak, then refill the radiator slowly so you don't cause an air lock in the radiator, with cap still off start the engine and allow it to warm up until the stat opens and then you will need to add more antifreeze to the system. Double check for any leaks. Turn on the heater and make sure you have good heat and you should be good

Replace a water pump need help asap

Jaguar S TYPE 1999 2000 2001 2002 Service Repair Manual They only want 10 bucks for it and it would be easier! The only hope i could find was this posting... Youll need to remove the radiator cowl and the fan and viscous coupling; they all come off in order. Then you need to drain the coolant and take off the hoses going to the thermostat housing which sits on top of the water pump. Theres one bolt in particular right underneath the thermostat housing that almost impossible to access, takes forever. You'll find the bonnet gets in your way too as its forward tilting. Take it off if you can stand the pain. With the thermostat housing removed you can see the water pump; if youre lucky it will come apart easily but more likely youll struggle to get the pulley off and theres hardly any clearance to get at the retaining centre nut. Ignore the book and pull the whole assembly out in one go if you can, dont try to get the pulley off the pump, its a nightmare. Replace the thermostat while your in the pain zone anyway. Reassembly is a straight reversal. The whole thing is a pain in the *** and I'd pay not to do it again. Hope this helps.

Best of luck to ya!

Hi, iv got jaguar s type r 2002, could someone tell me how do i bleed air out from heater system, thers no heating in the car. it was all fine before it started leaking engine cooling water, now thats got...

What I do is park the car uphill. Let it cool, open the cap, start it, and let it warm up until coolant flows in the radiator. Add coolant and let the air burp out until there is good flow with no bubbles coming up.

Change the thermostat on 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Hi, i have put together a step by step guide that will help you with this replacement job. Make sure the vehicle is in a cool state before starting this job.

* Drain some coolant into a clean container until the coolant level is below the thermostat housing.
* Remove the upper radiator hose connection from the thermostat housing.
* Loosen the housing bolts and remove the housing.
* Remove the gasket and scrape it carefully from the surface of the housing and the mounting surface on the engine. If the gasket remains on either of the surfaces, there will probably bea coolant leak after reassembly. Some engines use a rubber O-ring to seal a thermostat housing.
* Compare the size of the thermostat to the old one. They are of different sizes, types, and temperature ratings.
* The temperature rating is stamped on the sensing bulb on the bottom of the thermostat. The temperature bulb faces the block.
* When replacing a thermostat, be sure that the thermostat fits into the groove in the block or outlet housing. If the thermostat is installed upside down, the engine will overheat.
* Install the gasket.
* Reinstall the thermostat housing. Refill the system and run the engine or pressure test to check for leaks.
* When the engine has reached operating temperature make sure the thermostat opens.
* You should be able to see coolant circulating within the radiator.
* Another way of checking thermostat operation is to feel the top of the radiator hose or use a thermometer or multimeter with a temperature probe to confirm that the coolant is warming up.
* If the engine is overheating, but the top hose is still cool to the touch, the thermostat is stuck closed and must be replaced.

NOTE
When a paper gasket is used and the recess is in the thermostat housing, it is a good practice to position the thermostat into the recess and glue the gasket to hold it in place. If it falls out of its groove during installation, the outlet housing can be cracked or a coolant leak will result. Before tightening the water outlet housing, try to rock it back and forth to be sure it is flush. Housings are often cracked during this step.
