Have an 06 escape, shifter stuck in park... I replaced both brake and cruise control assemble modules at the brake peddle, it worked fine until I shut truck off then started up an shifter stuck in park again.i keep poping the 15amp fuses as soon as I put fresh one in, my ? Now is can I replace the shifter assembly (7210B) to fix the prob ... I've always had brake lights and still do..
It is not the multifunction switch. The power feed goes thru the brake switch before the multi function. You have no power the the brake switch because your shift interlock is not allowing you to shift it. I'll look up the wiring diagram and repost with a solution.

If your 2007 Impala is stuck in park and the gear override silver button doesn't work, there may be a few potential problems that are causing the problem. Here are some common causes and troubleshooting solutions you can try: Brake light switch: The most common cause of this problem is a faulty brake light switch. The brake light switch is responsible for sending a signal to the shift interlock solenoid to release the shifter when the brake pedal is depressed and can prevent the shifter from releasing if the switch does not operate properly. Make sure your brake lights work by pressing on the brake pedal. If they don't work, it's probably a brake light switch issue that needs to be replaced. Shift Interlock Solenoid: The shift interlock solenoid is a mechanism that prevents the shifter from moving without pressing the brake pedal If the solenoid is faulty or a blown fuse can cause the shifter to go into park. Check the fuse connected to the shift interlock system and replace if necessary. If the fuse is good, the solenoid may need to be replaced. Shift Cable: The shift cable connects the shifter to the transmission and allows you to change gears. Damaged, loose, or misaligned cables can prevent the shifter from leaving the parking space. Inspect the shift cable for any obvious issues and make sure it is securely attached to the shifter and transmission. Shift lock control module: Some vehicles have a shift lock control module that ensures proper operation of the shift interlock system. Malfunction of this module can cause the problem. It may be necessary to use a diagnostic scan tool to check for any error codes associated with the module. Ignition switch: Faulty ignition under certain conditions
the pin is most likely the locking pin from the shifter when you push down from park to drive you hear the click it goes into notches as to the steering that also has a pin that when you turn off ignition it locks into notches they can break or stick https://www.carid.com/ford-explorer-transmission-shifters/ shows exploded diagram of shifter
Probably a problem with the shifter interlock system . Won't allow the gear selector to move from park with the engine running unless the driver is pushing on the brake pedal . Locking solenoid in the shifter , brake pedal switch , wiring etc... may even have a body control module in the loop controlling these system . Do the brake light's work ? Some of these system's have a release point in the shifter assembly . Don't know if this is your problem without checking it out . It sounds like the neutral safety switch is bad need more info year make model yes it could be a brake switch or cruise controller switch or controller.Find a good mechanic because these are serious issues. Good Luck
having the same problem with my 1999 s80 2.9 . replaced the abs module twice and still get the brake failure warning. when the ignition key is turned there is a clicking sound from the center console beneath the shifter, then the brake failure warning, and the car will not start. (also after the last abs module replacement the car sometimes gets stuck in park).
there is a solenoid on the shifter assembly that allows you to depress the button on the shifter to shift from park. this solenoid is controlled by the brake light switch on your brake pedal arm under the dash. you could have a bad brake light switch, bad wiring, or a bad solenoid on the shifter assembly. if your brake lights work properly, the brake light switch should be okay, and you'd start checking wiring to the solenoid. if the wiring tests good then you should replace the solenoid. you may need to buy the entire shifter assembly as most solenoids are not available seperatly.
You need to check the connection on the front of the master cylinder. This is the brake disengage for the cruise control. If it is wet this is the problem of the short. You need to replace the unit. This was a recall by ford. Now check the #15 fuse (5a) this controls the brake interlock switch. When you put the fuse in you will hear a click. This means you can now take the truck out of park. The lights will come on and the windows will work. If the windows don't work check the other fuses. By pulling them and replacing them made the windows work for me.
Chances are you're parked on a hill. You need someone to push on the car to take the pressure off the parking pin in the transmission. The other possible problem is there is a solenoid the won't release the gear shifter until the brake pedal is depressed. If you are pushing the brake pedal before trying the gear shift there is a malfunction in this system. This is not as easy to fix. If you aren't mechanically inclined I recomend taking that to a mechanic. If you are so inclined let me know and I can help guide you thru the steps.
