SOURCE: 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix Thermostat
as you face the engine the thermostat bell is on the right (drivers side) Follow the radiatoe hose. Remove the two bolts and raise the bell still attatched to the hose. the thermostat is there with the rubber seal. You can gently pry the thermostat out with a screwdriver or something similar. Put in new thermostat be sure it is the same as the old one, and then replace or change the seal (be sure it is the smae size and thickness as the old one as I got the wrong size from Napa) Then replace the bell, and tighten, but not over tighten. There are some awesome adhesives on the market. I am thinking about one for boats and just remember "1500" as part of the name. With marine products you will not have any problems with moisture separating it so car washes will be okay.

disconnect the negative battery terminal first then disconnect the positive treminal so there are no accidents, raise the car safely go underneath & remove the starter cover should be 3 10mm bolts holding the cover on then remove the 2 through starter bolts 15mm then disconnect the + battery cvable from starter then disconnect the solenoid wire should be a 7 mm bolt. good luck
