My 1993 chevy lumina van acted like it ran out of gas, but has plenty of gas, I accidently left the ignition switch on a couple days ago and the battery went dead, the battery doesn't stay charged over night since. Could it be that I burnt up the fuel pump or something else when I left the ingnition on overnight? I only got about 30 miles out of it after that but it ran fine until it sputtered and died going down the highway.
Your battery may be at it's very very end of it's life or is already in the battery heaven and no boosting is going to bring it back. Start with replacing the battery, if the money is tight do what i do and go to the Salvage Yard. The average price there for a good battery is $15,00 to $35.00, depends on the yard. Got mine for $15.00 and it may need to be replaced now, it's been almost 4 years. You want to pick one up that has the highest cold cranking amp (CCA) that you can fit in your car and there is date of service on the battery you want to look for. A bad Battery will cause your engine to stall if it's no longer holding a charge. Start with that and then we can worry about the harder things. Note: if the Volt drops less then 10.5 volts, the ECM will shut down the engine. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted.
If the battery is good then go for the Fuel filter replacement, and if you can get to an Auto Zone, lone out a fuel pressure gauge and check the fuel pressure at the shredder valve. Auto Zone will have the step by step instructions to using the gauge and the right fuel pressure your fuel pump should be pushing. On that subject your fuel pressure regulator may have gone bad or the vacuum line may have come off or a leak in the line. Once the fuel pressure goes bad your may not get the proper amount of gas to the injector's causing them to run rich > loss of power or lean > misfires. Good luck and hope these leads will help you get the car running 100 % friend.

Thanks for the quick response, but, I'm pretty sure it's not may battery causing the shut down since it cranked over well and for quite a length of time. Should I check computer control module next or might I assume the fuel pump went out, or what is next?
