Says shift to park to start and it's in park

Also says to check VSC system. All of a sudden the thing won't start

The error messages were caused by a run down battery. The car door had been left ajar all night. Jumped it and all is good.

I googles the vsc system problem and it led me to a answer for both of them for the vsc and the shift to park it could be caused by the torque inverter/converter if you google "vsc problem?" You will find the Toyota nation website and they are talking about this exact problem in that forum that will come up.

SOURCE: The VSC and ABS lights

IT would be best to run a scanner and retrieve error codes if the computer detected any.

Try to reset the ECU by removing one of the battery terminals.

The solution may or may not be related to each other. This could be a speed sensor issue found on the front where your front drive shafts can be found. The cables may have come off or one may be faulty.

Reset the ECU again if the solution above did not work.

If solutions presented did not work, I strongly recommend to run a scanner to detect the error.

Thank you.

What is a vsc in a toyota aurion?

VSC Is ..Vehicle Stability Control..It is a control system for traction loss, scidding,.If one tire loses traction it will light up..It shouldn't interfere with starting...Make sure all CV Axles for drivetrain isn't damaged...?..Did this happen all of a sudden..?..You can wear safety glasses and disconnect negative battery to erase the code and reset the computer..Reconnect and then try to start it..Be sure car is in park..!

01 toyota avalon vsc, vsc off, and parking brake light on

The VSC uses the brake system to function. So if the regular brake system is not working correctly the VSC will be disabled.
The brake warning light is for the parking brake as well as the hydraulic brake system. So it could be low on brake fluid or something else.

2008 Saturn Vue Stuck In Park. The car starts fine however when you try to shift out of park the shifter is locked up and won't budge. You have to restart the car multiple times to get the shifter...

these have a safety system so the shifter won`t go into any gear unless the brake is pushed(indicating someone sitting in the drivers seat),if the brake lights aren`t working this indicates that the fuse that operates the shift lock solenoid and brake lights is not working and needs replacing.check the fuses and replace the fuse and things will probably return to normal.

GEAR SHIFT STUCK IN PARK HAVE NO BRAKE LIGHTS

check the fuses as if the brake light fuse is blown it won`t allow the shifter to move out of park.it has a shift interlock system so the gear shift won`t accidentally be moved out of park by mistake.

My 2007 seabring won't shift out of park... Car

The car is probably on a steep hill and a lot of pressure is on the park pawl in the automatic transmission. If this is the case, a hard sudden pull should release it. Make sure the brake is on. When parking on a hill in the future use the parking brake before placing the lever in park.
