Describe your 1999 Chrysler Town & Country Problem-Won't start up all the time, takes me 7-9 cranks for it to start. sometimes it starts with no problem at all. Someone told me my battery was too small for the size of the vehicle. Starter was replaced 3000 miles ago. Battery sounds like its dying after repeated cranks to get it started sometimes. Three hours later I start it right up.

HAVE SOMEONE EXTRACT THE CODE FROM THE CAR'S COMPUTER. IF THERE IS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THEN THE PCM HAS A CODE STORED ON IT. IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE A THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, BUT JUST CHECK THE CODE TO BE SURE. SOME OF THESE CAN ALSO HAVE A BAD IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU TO FIND THE PROBLEM. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED, THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK
check the bulbs do not have fractured filaments, and check the headlamp relay.check the sockets for corrosion and if all that checks out ok check the connection on the back of the headlight switch and the daytime running light module
it's not too bad to change, you will need a special tool to remove the crank pully, it looks like a 3 jaw puller and once you get that off the seal is right behind it. Make sure to clean the crank pully shaft that goes through the seal with a piece of emery cloth to prevent leakage and coat it with either transmission assembly lube or a small amount of motor oil to prevent a dry start that can damage the seal again
Shouldn't set off air bag if you are taking off door panel. You could always disconnect negative battery cable to be extra careful. I have replaced both passenger and drivers windows with battery connected. Take your time in removing door panel so avoid breaking plastic retaining clips.
One nasty part of this job is removing bolts that hold window motor to the door. They have a rubberized nut on the backside. Sometimes you can hold them with vise grips. I've found if I just pull the motor really hard the bolt and nut slides out of rubber guide.
It is also a little tricky to remove the unit and reinstall it in the door. Just be patient and take your time.
One tip is to leave the door panel off after you install the new door motor/regulator unit. Simply plug in the window switch and make sure all is functioning correctly and then install door panel.
I buy the replacement window units online and save big bucks over the dealer.
My van is doing exactly the same thing. It will crank, then cut right off, after I try 3 times it doesn't do anything. After that it may not start for a couple of days, but if I leave it alone after the first or second try it may start back in an hour or so. It was fine for about 4 months, then just started back up. If you found a solution, please help me....
