Antitheft or Security system failure is a common problem on GM vehicles. Every time you put your key in the ignition, the vehicle's security system reads the signal from your key to make sure it is OK to run. When it receives the "correct key" signal, the security system allows the starter to turn over, and/or the fuel injectors to function and your car works like it normally does every day. If you were to use a different key, or try to hot wire it, the system would shut down these parts of your car, thus making the vehicle completely immobile. This is GM's way of preventing vehicle theft. The problem is that the system is known to fail quite commonly. It has been failing consistently for around 30 years. When it fails, two things can happen. First, you turn the key and nothing happens at all. Lights work, radio works, windows work... just not the starter that you need to start the vehicle. This is a "starter immobilizer". Second, you turn the key and the vehicles starts just fine, but then stalls in 2-5 seconds. This is a "fuel immobilizer". It literally cuts off the fuel injectors and stalls the vehicle to immobilize it. These are normally, but not always followed by a light on the dash that says SECURITY or ANTITHEFT. These lights are to inform you of the system's failure to collect the information it needs from your key to the computer. If your security/antitheft light is on, odds are you will be stranded soon, if not already. Remember that the security system controls the security light. If the system is failing, the light may never warn you of the failure. There is a lot of info on this site that you can read up on. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

seems like you have yourself an engine misfireing or you may have a defective starter.
your description was not clear,

If the security light is flashing you need a new ignition.

It should be either no Spark or no Fuel.
Possible causes: Out of gas, no oil pressure, faulty oil pressure switch, Bad fuel-pump, fuel-pump relay, needs tune-up, defective ignition control module, wrong air/fuel ratio, defective IAC valve or EGR valve.
Other causes: Wrong timing, bad compression, or clogged CAT.

its going to either be a fuel problem or electrical,, so check fuel first ,, get a can of carb cleaner, or quick Start,, spray some in the air intake as someone tries to start the vehicle, if it runs as long as your spraying, ( don't so this too long ) then you have a fuel issue, the easiest thing to do is change the fuel filter , try that first ,, if that doesn't fix it, your going to have to check the fuel pump,, now,, if none of that helped,, pull a plug , whatever one is easiest to remove, and put the plug wire back on ,, hold the plug with insulated pliers , ( so you don't get zapped) and ground the end of the plug against a bolt head anyplace on the motor, hold it there while s friend or someone cranks the car over, you should get a nice blue spark at the tip of the plug,, if you do ,, its again a fuel problem,, if you don't,, check the cap and rotor, any tiny crack in the cap, or build up of corroded contact tips inside the cap, will cause these problems your having, clean them off as good as you can and also clean the rotor tip, see if that helps, if it does, replace the cap as soon as you can, and also the rotor, if this doesn't help, your going to have to get the coil checked, and trace everything back to the ignition

Electrical problems require tracing from where you have current to where you do not. For example, it could be dirty battery terminals, back chassis ground connection, missing engine ground strap, bad neutral safety switch, bad ignition switch, bad starter solenoid, bad starter field or armature brushes.
See if there is current at the starter solenoid, when you try to crank it, with a test light. They move further upstream if there is not.
