Remove horn cover, screws from backside of steering wheel, unplug wire to cover for the horn. loosen and remove 7/8" or 22mm nut from center. using steering wheel puller remove steering wheel. using steering wheel lock spring compressor tool compress spring and remove external snap ring. or have friend press down on cogged black plastic ring and remove snapring from shaft. dont allow spring to make things fly. now remove the three phillips headed screws and the fourth that hold turn signal lever, to the turn signal assesembly and wiggling wires from bottom end of steering column and pulling up on turn signal plastic assesembly pull until out of way. using a t20 i believe torx, six point star bit, to remove the tumbler assesembly. now reachin with a neetle nose pliers and turn. all done. and the install new tumbler. hope your not stealing it. or you can just remove plastic pannel under steering column and the two 14mm nuts holding steering column up. let it rest upon seat. remove the ingition switch with a 7 mm socket. where the rod use to connect on the bottom side of ignition switch, slide slider away to start. but this will not disengage the steering wheel lock, depending if its in the lock position or not would depend on which way i would go. if not in locked position use 2nd option just to move it. but either way to replace ignition lock cylinder, where key goes, use first method

I’m happy to assist further over the phone at

How I take out my ignition switch without the key.

the ignition units on all modern cars are designed so they cannot be removed without the key.
you normally need to turn the ignition to position I or II before you can remove the ignition.

without the key, you would normally need to change the steering lock assembly.
also, the key in most new cars has a security chip inside the key itself to confirm the identity of the key itself, and if you replace the key, you would normally need to have the ignition module reprogrammed to accept any new keys.

without a key, you will almost certainly need to get a professional to sort this out.

Does not lock with key or remote

hi friend,
I presume you've changed the batteries? If the batteries are good I don't know what to tell you dude, might need a new one
shake the key while holding it close to your ear, if you hear something moving inside the key then you need new key. there is a chip in those keys that if it comes loose you need then a new key. unfortunately it's not very cheap, key cost a little over $150. just order the key from the dealer, and if they tell you they need to reprogram the key in the car tell them you just want the key, because the key reprograms itself. all you have to do is put it in and let it sit there for less then 1 hour, and it reprograms itself. some dealers will tell you they need to reprogram it so they can charge you an extra $100, but in reality you don't need the re programing, just let the key in for less then 1 hour, then it is ready. hope this helps u please rate me................. thank u for using fixya regards sivaranjini

Need to program new ignition key

You should have received a key number plate with your keys when you got the car. You will need this key number in order to get a key replaced. If you need to replace a key, you have to use only Honda-approved key blanks (probably means you will have to get them from Honda). These keys contain electronic circuits that are activated by the
Immobilizer System. They will not work to start the engine if the circuits are damaged.
You should have received 2 master keys (black) and 1 valet key (grey) in addition to the Key Number Plate when you got the car.
I hope this helps you.

I need the key to start engine or by-pass the immobilizer.

There is a chip in the key on the newer cars. The dealer should be able to send your information to Hyundai and order a new key. Pricey. Check with another dealer.
