Why does the car idle irregularly and become more noticeable the warmer the car becomes. and when the car is very warm there is a ting sound (sounds like a coin being tapped on a hollow steel pole very quickly )
The problem could likely be that your valves are in need of adjustment.
and if it is the valves would this irregular idle and the hollow steel sound become worse in a shorter space in time or does it progressively and over longer period of time become loader and more irregular?
and why does the idling and noise get more noticeable when the car is warm to hot and when the car is cold (when starting the car in the morning or even driving in very cold temperatures) there is no noticeable noise and irregular idling

Hi,
I would say don't replace anything until you have the "fault codes" read via the on-board diagnostic system.
Hope this helps. If this "fixes ya", I'd appreciate a rating for my reply, If not, please delay the rating and add a comment with any extra info you have and I will try to think of something else.
Cheers, D.

You may have a clogged fuel injector. If it repeats and clears up.

I would suggest hat you replace the timing belt. The noise that you hear is the belt.

I don 't know if I can solve it, but I had a very similar problem on a 2002 Grd Cherokee Laredo. It ended up being the Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS). Unfortunately the part alone is about $125 and and total installed cost was about $250. It would idle high at first, then gradually work it self down to a normal idle. Once it was warmed up it it would have an up and down RPM during idling, and several times it stalled out at intersections. There was also a lot of transmission clunking going on when you put it in reverse or drive.
Runs like a dream now. Clunking is gone and idle speed is just right.
