you may have dislodged the reflector from the unit housing. retaining fixings remove the lamp assembely and remove the bulbs then try and refit the reflector back in to the retainers by pulling them back through the bulb holder holes

I have a 1999 Jaguar S Type and wish to remove the plastic headlight protectors to clean them . Whats the best approach I should adopt? thanks paul

The plastic lenses are integral to the light assembly and can not be separated. Search the net and you will find cleaning / polishing kits for these plastic type lenses. To remove bugs or particles inside the light remove the bulbs and attach a small flexible soft silicon rubber hose to your vacuum cleaner.

I have a 2003 Jaguar X Type 2.5L automatic. One of the options is Auto Leveling Headlights and HID headlamps. My problem is it seem the auto level is not working properly. They do cycle when I turn them on...

These are a real pain in the rear. The headlight assembly that makes them move is plastic and breaks easily. I've spent 1200.00 replacing one only to have both go out in 6 months. Hitting a pot hole will break them. They sell the whole assembly. I ended up finding a fix online with a 2.00 screw to hold them in the proper place and had a local body shop do the fix for me. They agreed that it was a huge waste of money to buy the whole assembly only for it to break again. There is a positioning port at the top of them, but you have to have a Jag dealer adjust it or it will strip out if you try using just a screw driver.

Change low beam headlight

Inspect/Replace There can be slight variations in procedure from one model to another when replacing headlights. For instance, on some models the turn signal light assembly must be removed before the headlight can be replaced. Overall, however, the procedure does not differ much from the following typical instructions.
Make sure the replacement bulb is the same type and part number as the one that is being replaced.

Comparing the old and ther replacement headlamps. To Replace:

Remove the headlight bezel retaining screws. Remove the bezel. If necessary, disconnect the turn signal lamp wires.
Remove the retaining ring screws from one or both lights.
Remove the retaining rings.
Remove the light from the housing. Disconnect the wiring connector from the back of the light.
Push the wiring connector onto the prongs at the rear of the new light.
Place the new light in the headlight housing. Position it so the embossed number in the light lens is on the top.
Place the retaining ring over the light and install the retaining ring screws. Tighten them slightly.
Check the aim of the headlight and adjust it, if necessary.
Install the headlight bezel. Secure it with the retaining screws.
Connect the turn signal lamp wiring (if it was disconnected).

How do i remove the front bumper on my x type jag

1/Remove bumper under tray.
2/ " the front of both inner wheel liners.
3/ " a 10mm bolt at top behind both marker lights.
4/Remove 2 10mm bolts above both headlight assemblies.
5/Cautiously withdraw bumper then disconnect bumper harness.
