1998 buick lasabre limited==stuck in defrost==heat not hot

The problem is either the "Mode" door actuator or a stuck mode door. That door is responsible for directing where the air comes out. Locate the mode door and disconnect the actuator. Move the door by hand. If it moves freely, chances are the actuator is bad.

Looking for a diagram of heater control valve vacuum lines on a 2003 GMC Envoy with a 5.3 engine

There are no vacuum lines for the HVAC , electroniclly controlled .

Mode Actuator
The mode actuator is an electronic stepper motor with feedback potentiometers. The HVAC control module sends signals to the mode door actuator through the mode door control circuit. Zero volts drives the actuator in one direction while 5-volts moves the actuator in the opposite direction. When the actuator receives 2.5 volts, the actuator rotation stops. A 5-volt reference signal is sent out over the 5-volt reference circuit to the mode actuator. When you select a desired mode setting, logic determines the value of the mode actuator signals. The HVAC control module's software uses this reference voltage in order to determine the position of the mode actuator through the mode door position signal circuit. The motor moves the mode door to the desired position.

Defrost Actuator
The defrost actuator operates the same as the mode actuator. The HVAC control module sends signals to the mode door actuator through the defrost door control circuit. Zero volts drives the actuator in one direction while 5-volts moves the actuator in the opposite direction. When the actuator receives 2.5 volts, the actuator rotation stops. A 5-volt reference signal is sent out over the 5-volt reference circuit to the defrost actuator. When you select a defrost setting, logic determines the value of the defrost actuator signals. The HVAC control module's software uses this reference voltage in order to determine the position of the mode actuator through the defrost door position signal circuit. The motor moves the defrost door to the desired position.

Need info on heater mode door operation

The mode door actuators are reversible, 12-volt direct current (DC) servo motors. The heating-A/C systems on this vehicle use two mode door actuators. One for the panel/floor-air door and one for the defrost-air door.

Both the defrost door actuator (1) and the panel/floor door actuator (2) and the are located on the driver side end of the HVAC housing (3), close to the dash panel.

All actuators (1) are interchangeable with each other. Each actuator is contained within an identical black molded plastic housing with an integral wire connector receptacle (2). Each actuator also has an identical output shaft with splines (3) that connects it to its respective door linkage and three integral mounting tabs (4) that allow the actuator to be secured to the HVAC housing. The mode door actuators do not require mechanical indexing to the mode-air doors, as they are electronically calibrated by the A/C-heater control.
OPERATION

The mode door actuators are connected to the A/C-heater control through the vehicle electrical system by dedicated two-wire leads and connectors of the HVAC wire harness. The mode door actuators can move the defrost-air door and the panel/floor-air door in two directions. When the A/C-heater control pulls the voltage on one side of the motor connection high and the other connection low, the mode-air door will move in one direction. When the A/C-heater control reverses the polarity of the voltage to the motor, the mode-air door moves in the opposite direction.

When the A/C-heater control makes the voltage to both connections high or both connections low, the mode-air door stops and will not move. The A/C-heater control uses a pulse-count positioning system to monitor the operation and relative position of the mode door actuators and the mode-air doors. The A/C-heater control learns the mode-air door stop positions during the Actuator Calibration procedure and will store a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) for any problems it detects in the mode door actuator circuits.

The mode door actuators are diagnosed using a scan tool (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/HVAC - Diagnosis and Testing).

The mode door actuators cannot be adjusted or repaired and must be replaced if inoperative or damaged.

I used csorb's instructions to reprogram a master key for my 2000 Lexus RX300. The ignition works perfectly, but the doors don't lock or unlock.

Hi!!
I believe your alarm is in the PASSIVE MODE, here is how it works.

PASSIVE MODE Setting (Arming) Anti-Theft System The system will automatically set 30 seconds after following methods are performed: Remove ignition key from ignition switch. Exit vehicle, and close all doors. After performing this, anti-theft indicator on left side of instrument panel will light continuously for about 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, anti-theft indicator will blink once per second. When system is set, doors cannot be locked or unlocked using door lock control switch.
CANCELING THE ALARM AND REPROGRAMING MAY SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM.
Canceling Anti-Theft System Setting (No Alarm) When system is set (armed), but alarm is not sounding, use one of following methods to cancel system setting:
  • Unlock left or right front door using key.
  • Unlock all doors using remote keyless entry system.
  • Insert key in ignition switch and turn to ON position (this is operative only when anti-theft system has not been triggered).
HERE IS HOW TO REPROGRAM THE ALARM IN CASE YOU NEED TO RESET IT.
PROGRAMMING
PASSIVE MODE NOTE:Initial mode is passive mode off. If there is a different signal in middle of programming, signal is invalid.
Programming Passive Mode Off
  • Remove ignition key from ignition key cylinder. Ensure all doors (including back door) and engine hood are closed and unlocked. Perform all of following methods within 30 seconds:
  • Lock or unlock any door with key or remote keyless entry system.
  • Open driver door.
  • Lock and unlock driver door lock knob 3 times.
  • After performing this, system should start force lock after 2 seconds. Perform all of following methods within 20 seconds:
  • Unlock driver door lock knob.
  • Close and open driver door 2 times.
  • Lock and unlock driver door lock knob.
  • After performing this, system should start force lock after 2 seconds. Passive mode should now be off.
Programming Passive Mode On
  • Remove ignition key from key cylinder. Ensure all doors, engine hood and luggage compartment door are closed and unlocked.
  • Close and open driver door 4 times.
  • Lock and unlock driver door lock knob.
  • After performing this, system should start force lock after 2 seconds. Passive mode should now be on.

How do I reprogram the 2004 Pontiac Vibe key fob?

To begin programming, follow the procedure.
  1. Set the following conditions: • Ignition off and ignition key out of cylinder. • All doors closed except drivers door. • Drivers door is unlocked.
  2. Insert and remove the key from the ignition switch twice within 5 seconds.
  3. After the above operations, close and open the driver door twice within 40 seconds. Then insert the key into the ignition key cylinder and remove it.
  4. After the above operations, close and open the driver door twice within 40 seconds. Then insert the key into the ignition key cylinder and close the door.
  5. Turn the ignition switch from LOCK to ON and back to LOCK at approximately 1 second interval 1to5 times to select desired mode. • 1 time for add mode • 2 times for rewrite mode • 3 times for confirmation mode • 5 times for prohibition mode
  6. Remove the ignition key from the key cylinder.
  7. After selecting a mode, the integration relay automatically performs the power door LOCK to UNLOCK operation within 3 seconds to inform the selected mode. • In the confirmation mode, when the operation is performed twice, it directs that 2 types of recognition codes have been registered. • In the confirmation mode, if the number of the registration code is 0 the LOCK to UNLOCK operation is automatically performed 5 times. • If the prohibition mode or confirmation mode is selected, registration procedure is completed. • If the add or rewrite mode has been selected, the doors will lock-unlock once or twice at 1 second intervals, once for add mode or twice for rewrite mode. • If the confirmation mode is selected, the doors will lock-unlock 0 to 2 times at 2 second intervals to inform the technician of the number of transmitters programmed. • If the prohibition mode is selected, the doors will lock-unlock 0 to 5 times at 1 second intervals.
  8. Registering new recognition codes for the add mode or rewrite mode. • Within 40 seconds after the add mode or the rewrite mode has been selected, press the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously for 1.0 to 1.5 seconds. Within 3 seconds after the previous operation, press either one of the buttons for more than 1.0 seconds. • Within 3 seconds after the transmitter has been turned off, the LOCK and UNLOCK operation will be automatically performed once if the registration of the recognition code of the transmitter is completed correctly. In case the LOCK and UNLOCK operation is performed twice, the registration of recognition code has failed. Perform the registration procedure from the beginning once again.
  9. Press a transmitter button for 2 seconds. The doors will lock-unlock once at a 1 second interval to inform the technician that the signal has been received from the transmitter. • If the doors lock-unlock once, the transmitter programming has been completed. Go to step 8 to continue programming for additional transmitters. • If the doors lock-unlock twice, the transmitter programming is not complete. Go to step 8 to begin the transmitter programming again.
If any of the following conditions occur during programming, the remote control door lock receiver will return to normal operation:

The battery in my 2006 pontiac vibe went dead. I recharged it; however, the setting for the door locks changed. It now unlocks automatically when I turn the car off instead of when I put the car in park. I...

The 2006 Vibe no longer has that feature. It was discontinued after 2005. I have the 2005 so I know how to change it. If your 2006 is able to change then here are the directions from my 2005.
Programmable Automatic
Door Locks
If you have an automatic transaxle, your vehicle is equipped with an auto door lock/unlock feature which enables you to program your power door locks.
Your vehicle left the factory programmed to Mode 4.
The following is a list of the available programming options:
Mode 1: All doors and liftgate lock when the shift lever is moved out of PARK (P) with the ignition on and all doors and liftgate closed. There is no automatic door unlocking.
Mode 2: No automatic door locking or unlocking.
Mode 3: All doors and liftgate lock when the shift lever is moved out of PARK (P) with the ignition on and all doors and liftgate closed. All doors and liftgate unlock when the shift lever is moved to PARK (P) with the ignition on.
Mode 4: All doors and liftgate lock when the shift lever is moved out of PARK (P) with the ignition on and all doors and liftgate closed. All doors and liftgate unlock when the ignition switch is turned from ON to ACC or to LOCK.
To change the mode you are in, do the following:
1. Set the interior lamp control dial to the door position.
See Interior Lamps Control on page 3-16.
2. Move the shift lever into PARK (P) and close all doors and liftgate.
3. Turn the ignition to ON.
4. Within five seconds after the ignition is turned to ON, press and hold the power door lock switch in
the lock position for about five seconds.
5. The interior lamp will flash to indicate that the mode has been changed. For example, if the lamp flashes once, the function has been changed to Mode 1.
If the battery is disconnected or run down, the mode is changed to the initial mode which is Mode 4.
