Frontera 2.2 dti 53 reg engine management light comes on goes in limp mode and sounds like a tractor

The car will need to be put on a diagnosic machine to point out exactly why the engine has gone into limp mode, but if it is still running it could just be down to a sensor, Hope this helps

Not directly, but the engine ECM and Transmission TCM are connected, so if the engine is running badly, this will effect on the transmission, and may confuse the TCM and make it go into limp mode.

My girlfriends car has just started with the same problem, a limp home from the garage, a sleep over night and als well next day, for a while... I spoke to Mitsubishi and they have told me the TPS (throttle positioning sensor) is on the accelorator pedle assembly. There PN for this is MN125791 and its circa £88 + VAT. After exhausting all other options I may attempt this replacement and will advise the results.
