SOURCE: Replacing the broken cup holder

First, you must remove the floor console bezel (the trim piece that surrounds the shifter knob). The proper method to remove this involves removing the shifter knob first. This is held in by a small set screw on the "radio" side of the knob. To remove the screw, you will need a small "hex-key" (also known as Allen key or Allen wrench). The proper size is 3mm, but you can get away with using a size 7/64" if you need to. Once loosened, I believe that the knob pulls right up and off. Make sure you do not lose the small screw. Also be careful not to accidentally contact the tip-top of the shifter while the knob is removed, as this may break off the small black plastic tip, which will require much more work to repair and/or replace the entire shifter.
Next, you should be able to remove the floor console bezel by prying gently and carefully on the corners and sides of the piece with a tool called a trim stick, or if you do not have this tool, you can get away with using a small, thin-tipped flat head screwdriver. However, this will almost surely cause some aesthetic damage to the edges of the trim.
Once this bezel is out of the way, (you shouldn't have to remove the electrical connectors on the underside of the bezel for this specific job) there are 2 screws holding down the bottom of the cupholder assembly. I believe these are both Torx - type screws, which will need either a T10, T15, or T20 screwdriver bit to remove(I'm sorry but I don't remember exactly which of the 3 sizes are used). After these 2 screws are removed, open the armrest. On the TOP of the FRONT of the armrest, just above the cupholders, are 2 more screws which should be the same as the 2 bottom screws. Remove these, then lift the cupholder assembly up and forward to remove it.

To install, simply reverse the above procedure.

Because this is my first solution posted on this site, I would love to have your feedback. Please let me know how everything goes with this project. Thank you!

Mitchell

Loosen the hex head set screw from the front of the Shifter knob. Pull it off, then remove the screws on the lower sides, as well as the ones hiding under the rubber cup holder. The entire assemble will now lift off.

2003 Sienna, manual sliding door won't open

"The other door won't open from inside or out."

The 2003 Sienna does use separate cables to open from the outside and the inside.

To fix the door that will not open from the inside or the outside, do this. It is MUCH easier than you may think. It just takes a little time.

Prep: Take the seats out, they just get in the way of working.
Tools: Philips head screwdriver. One larger pry screwdriver or other tool to assist with prying (does not need to be heavy duty)

1. Pull "up" and then "out" on the Cup Holder. It pops off.
2. Remove the screw that is holding the panel to the door. It is located behind the area from which you removed the cup-holder.

Replacing cup holder unit on a 1997 toyota 4runner

Despite the other persons advice. on this part you cannot simply yank it out. You must remove the center console (where the stereo is). This is done by removing screws from behind the thin piece of plastic that has your temp controls etc. there may be other screws, but they are easy to find. pull the whole unit forward and then you will have access to the back of the cup holder. there are two "clips" that you can get to. depress them both and the old cup holder will come out. installing the new one may invovled a good shove from the front to engage the new clips. good luck!

The sliding door handles of my 1998 Toyota Sienna have both broken.

I replaced both of my sliding door handles this weekend. It was actually pretty easy. Cheapest I could find the handles was a little over $70 each. The interior panel is held on with one screw and 10 nylon clips. The one screw is in the cup holder. Put you hand in the cup holder and push out at the bottom. It pops right off exposing the one screw. I started on the clips from the top at a corner. Seemed to be the easiest place to slide a screw driver under. Once I got the screw driver in, I started working my fingers under the panel. The clips run mostly along the top and bottom about 6 inches from the edge. I made an effort to apply the force as close to the clips as I could to reduce flexing the panel. Once I got the first clip to pop out the other followed pretty easy and the panel lifted right off. Carefully peel back the plastic barrier. The exterior handle is held on with two 10mm bolts. Connecting the short cable was pretty obvious once you could see everything. Now I have to teach everyone to open the side doors very gently! Hope this helps.
