SOURCE: 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis brake and ABS dash lights on and off

The red brake light is the key here. That usually indicateds a hydraulic problem. Check you fluid level in master cylinder and see if it is low. Also the level indicator sensor there in the master cylinder maybe sticking or corrioded. If ABS sees the red brake light it will shut off and turn on the ABS light, also traction control would be disabled as well.

Sounds like you have a bad wheel speed sensor. You need to have it scanned. Since it's been sitting, it might just be a bad connection to one of the speed sensors.

SOURCE: 2000 grand marquis cruise control not working

Have seen this problem before. You need to look under dash at brake pedal and find a blue switch with plunger contacting pedal, disconnect connector and jump with a peice of wire and drive to see if cruise works and if it does replace deactivation switch this should get you going.

Traction control light flashes. Car doesn't start. What's wrong?

Check grounds. Main three are the battery to engine, battery to body and engine to body. The traction light or system has nothing to do with the car starting. Only thing in common is the grounds.

HOW DO I TURN OFF MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT?

When the traction control system light comes on and stays on it is alerting you to the fact that the system has detected a fault, and the control module has turned off the traction control system. The only way to get the light to turn off is to repair the fault that turned it on, this requires the control module be scanned with a special tool for fault codes, once the fault code is read the job of diagnosing and repair will begin and when the problem is found and repaired the light will turn off.

Cruise control quit working. won't activate when trying on switch or set accellerator button.

Problems like this is really hard to troubleshoot from a sentence but I'll give it my best shot. A mechanic will typically check all the cruise control related fuses.....then relays. After these steps, it can go on and on. There's a good chance it's the fuses though. Good Luck =)

I have a 98 grand marquis and the traction control kicks in a 35mph and its like it doesn't get any more power. Does anyone know what could cause this?

Traction Control kicking in would mean that one or more wheels were slipping (as in ice and snow).
Usually, traction control won't get you any more 'power' but will just prevent a slipping tire/wheel from slipping too much by applying brakes to the tire/wheel in question.

Good luck on this.
