Question about Peugeot 206
A meter test showed alternator is charging battery but I keep getting 'battery charge fault' light and electronics are shutting down

A meter will show a charge from an alternator but what charge was it . IF it is not 14.5 volts and DC volts not ac volts then the alternator is not working properly and that is why the light is staying on. Best have the electrics checked out at an accredited auto electrician shop.

Hi, I can't tell you exactly what is wrong because there is too much involved at this point, what with 2 shops working with it, but I can give you some advise on what else to check. On the alternators and the wiring that supports them a small volt charge is taken off one of the slip rings, where the brushes ride, for the purpose of turning out the light. As I remember, this is a yellow wire that runs back to the dash.
To the alternator, it would be one of the wires that plug into the side of the alternator case.

put your voltmeter on the little cable that goes to the starter and check the volts there will turning the key to the start position if you have power ...yes its the starter...if you dont then it could be the starter relay

Probably a defect lambdasonde or inlet pressure sensor (MAP sensor) it will show many different errors on the test readout ex: inlet manifold pressure, knock sensor, lambda value wrong, idle speed out of range, etc.
read out the faults, after delete the readout, then drive one day, read faults out again , compare the results, and change the components from test

verify the belt tension-er is staying tight and not floppy around at higher RPMS,or the belt is not slipping ,have the alternator checked at higher RPMS not at an idle.the last is make sure the single wire little wire connector is tight
