In this days we do not replace Cv joints anymore.. There are rebuilt axels available .. we replace the complete axel with the rebuilt one.. Really cheap at Rockauto.com.. $40-$50 each axel..

SOURCE: I need yo know how to replace the cv joint and

remove axle nut, seperate balljoint from control arm, usually a good whack with a hammer on the control arm near the balljoint will free it,pry control arm down to remove knuckle assy, remove roll pin from inner axle joint now you can remove axle, most of the time the inner joint boot tears this is called the d-o-j {double offset joint} replace this boot as well,my suggestion is consider replacing axle with reman depending on mileage 100k or more.remember when reinstalling axle splines need to be lined up on inner shaft so roll pin goes in without problem good luck

Hi I have a 2005 Chevy Malibu and whenever i accelerate my car makes this clicking sound and shakes. But its only when i accelerate if i rev my engine while its in park there is no noise at all. and the...

Most likely CV (constant velocity) joints. This is the equivalent of universal joints, but intended for the sharp turning of a front end.

Attend to the issue as if they fail, much more costly to fix.

A knocking and grinding noise coming from underneath the car,

if you had the CV JOINTSreplaced , they both should have lasted for a long time, how much do you trust your mechanic ? always something to consider ! also, the mechanic who replaced the CV'S last time, did he do a good job ? was there a grinding noise then ? did you get a warranty on the previous cv's, I'm not tryin to point any fingers, just sayin, you need to be aware of every move you make, and who you make it with. NOW, go to good transmission shop, have them test drive ,with you in car, and inspect your front end and transmission, its free , good luck

Have a plymouth breeze, every time I turn left it was making a loud clicking noise, now it sounds like a really bad loud scrubbing noise when I turned and drive starting last night. So it I cant drive it....

Probably a bad CV joint on one of your drive axles to the front wheels. You have two drive axles coming out of the transaxle, one to each front wheel, and both have an inner CV joint where they enter the transaxle, and an outer CV joint where the axles fit into the wheel hub. (A CV joint is really like the old U-joints, serving the same purpose.) A clicking noise on turning is usually a badly worn outer CV joint. The cheapest fix is to buy a remanufactured half-shaft for your car. That is the axle shaft with both CV joints at each end inspected and reconditioned with new grease and CV boots installed. You need to know which side is bad before buying. The half-shaft is sold ready to install. Someone with good mechanical skills will need to remove the old one and replace it with the new reconditioned axle shaft, or half shaft as they are also called. The last time I bought one (about two years ago) the cost was reasonable- about $65.00. That is less than the cost of one new CV joint.
Hope this helps you out.

I have a 2005 chev. Malibu and its making popping noise in the front

Depending on where it is coming from it could be a bad u joint in the transaxle or the steering column can also pop on these models. the steering column has grease inside that when it dries and hardens the colapsable shaft starts moving around and binding slightly. All Chevy service departments know of this issue.

I have a 2005 malibu ls and when i turn the wheels left or right i hear a popin noise and feel a movement in steering wheel besides this it rides perfect

you need to have the cv joints replaced, unless your a pretty good mechanic you should have this done at a shop, they can be pretty tough to get out and back in, should run about 130$ per side

When slowing down , my 2005 aviator transmission

First check your tranny fluid levels.
If it is too high or too low this could be your problem and easy to fix.
If the levels are fine it could mean that it's either engine mounts,CV joint,U-joint...in this case you would need to see a mechanic.

Hope this helps.

How to replace a cv joint on a 2005 toyota corolla, i cant get the cv joint back part off the transmittion. driver side cv joint broke and rear part is stuck to transmittion..

There are two types of cv joints used. One type bolts on the other you have to pop out. Do this by prying it out with a big screwdriver. A c-clip hods it in and it will pop out for you. When reinstalling be sure it seats back in.

If it were me, I'd just change out the half shaft like THIS.

On the other hand, if you want to rebuild the CV joint, go HERE.
