There should be at least one screw holding the door handle trim piece. And check for other screws, like on the door pull or armrest, may be hidden behind small rectangular or square caps or plugs that are pried off to reveal the screws. The bottom and up the sides of panel should be held by plastic pins that push in to secure. Use a putty knife or screwdriver under the panel at bottom to pry the pins out. Work carefully all around trying not to break any of the plastic retainers (although they can be replaced if broken. When all free of the plastic retainers, pull panel out from bottom and lift up and away from the window channel. Unplug any electrical connections, and panel should be free.

Right rear turn signal bulb is out

u can access it from the inside but u have to remove the panels first to reach for it. U can do it, good luck.

HOW TO OPEN HATCH BACK LOCK, IF ITS BROKEN

the sequoia hatchback handle breaking is a known problem due to the extremely low quality of the plastic. 1st you have to open the back door! there is a small pin to the right side of the hatchback door exterior handle. bend a coat hanger and put it on the small pin, pull down and the door will open. Then remove inside panel and you can undo screws and replace the hatchback door handle.

High-Mount Brake Light Removal & Installation Except Avalanche and Cadillac To Remove:

Disconnect or remove the following:
- Negative battery cable
- Open the hatchback door
- Pry open the center high-mounted stop lamp (CHMSL) access cover with a trim removal tool
- Electrical connector
- Screws and the CHMSL

To Install:

Install or connect the following:
- CHMSL with the screws. Tighten to 17 in lbs (2 Nm)
- Electrical connector
- The CHMSL access cover
- Negative battery cable

Cadillac except Escalade EXT To Remove:

Disconnect or remove the following:
- Open the hatchback door
- CHMSL retainers
- Lower the hatchback door
- Raise the CHMSL
- Electrical connector and CHMSL

To Install:

Install or connect the following:
- Electrical connector and CHMSL
- Open the hatchback door
- Mounting screws into holes. Tighten to 10 in lbs (1.2 Nm)
- Lower the hatchback door

Avalanche, Escalade EXT To Remove:

Disconnect or remove the following:
- Open the hatchback door
- Rear compartment cover
- Cargo box bridge center mounting screws
- Panel assembly from the vehicle
- Electrical connector.
- CHMSL fasteners.
- Remove the CHMSL from the cargo box bridge center bar.

To Install:

Install or connect the following:
- CHMSL to the cargo box bridge center bar with fasteners
- Electrical connector to the CHMSL
- Panel assembly to the vehicle. Tighten to 62 in lbs (7 Nm)
- Cargo box bridge center
- Rear compartment cover

If your unable to open the rear door you should just be able to remove the inner door liner from inside the truck, climb over the back seats. Once the inner door panel is removed (remove all hardware, handles and such) the panel should pull off. To do so grab the pavel at the outter edge and pull away. As you pull away feel for where the fasteners are and concentrate your force of pulling there, pop out each one, one at a time. After removing remove plastic film and look into the inner door, it is there you should find your problem.

Pop the Hatchback open and remove the connectors
from the top of the bumper cover.

Optional Step: Using a Floor Jack, raise both sides
of the car in the back, supporting both sides with
jack stands, and remove the rear wheels.

Using Torx Bits, remove the inner rear wheel well
lining.

Get behind the rear wheel well and loosen the bolts
holding the bumper brackets on. They're pretty
difficult to find and remove. Be Patient. Do the
same to the other side.

Remove the rear bumper cover by pulling the cover
outward from the part nearest the wheel on both
sides. Once removed, take off the 2 black mounting
brackets from the bumper cover.
