Side curtain airbag replacment

yeah you can use them parts from your donor car, but when you install airbag and controller it has to be resetted anyway with some fault code reader. Better change the seat as well, they are integrated in the seat I dont think that will be easy to change seat airbag, but I could be wrong

2001 pontiac grand am air bag module reset

Yes!!! You can replace it yourself.(Dont let others fool you into paying extra or telling you otherwise.)
-This is for pontiac grand ams 1999-2005 only.
-There are no frontal airbag impact sensors nor are there belt tensioners.
-The SRS system consists of only the (driver airbag) ,(passanger airbag),and the (airbag control module) in 1999-2005 grand ams.

If you crash/wrecked and airbags deployed you will need.
-Driver and Passanger airbags
-Airbag control module

You can buy cheap airbags from a local junkyard any year from 1999-2005 will fit.
You can also find an airbag control module for cheap at your local junk yard BUT YOU MUST FIND ONE WITH THE SAME (PART NO.) AND (SERV NO.) AS THE ONE YOUR REPLACING.The (part no.) and (serv no.) should be at top left of airbag control module. However it does (Not) have to match numbers under barcode or the numbers at the far bottom right of airbag control module.

After you get both airbags and airbag module
-Disconnect car Battery
-Replace airbags
-Replace airbag module (under passanger seat)
-Double check all connections and connect battery.

Congradulations!Your airbags should be back online.

Notes: Two torx 35 head screws hold the driver airbag, access is through two holes behind steering column.
To remove passanger airbag you have to remove glovebox it uses (7mm)screws.After you remove you will see a pair of (10mm)screws holding airbag.
To remove airbag control module First remove passanger seat 2(15mm).Then after removing you will notice a raises area kinda like a vertical bump.Take a razor blade to your carpet and cut it to explose the module underneath.
The airbag module is held by three screws depending on the year of your car it varies. Most likely 3 (10mm).

I want to replace the right hand speed control for the cruise control on my 2008 Chrysler Aspen - any ideas? Anyone!

11_18_2011_12_24_34_am.gif
REPLACING CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH

1.
Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable from battery.

2. Remove airbag module (See AIRBAG REMOVAL below).

3. Remove speed control switch mounting screw and remove switch from steering wheel.

4. Reverse procedure to install.
AIRBAG REMOVAL
1. Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable from battery.

2. From the underside of the steering wheel, remove the two screws that secure the driver airbag to the steering wheel armature.
CAUTION: The horn switch and the clockspring pigtails connected to the back of the airbag module are fragile. Do not pull on these wires to disengage them. These must be handled carefully to prevent damage to the horn switch and/or the clockspring assembly.
3. Pull the driver airbag away from the steering wheel enough to access the three electrical connections on the back of the airbag housing.

4. Disconnect the steering wheel wire harness connector for the horn switch from the horn switch feed pigtail wire connector, which is located on the back of the driver airbag housing.

5. The clockspring driver airbag pigtail wire connectors are secured by integral latches to the airbag inflator connector receptacles, which are located on the back of the driver airbag housing. Depress the latches on each side of the connector insulator and pull the insulators straight out from the airbag inflator to disconnect them from the receptacles.

6. Remove the driver airbag from the steering wheel.

7. Reverse procedure to install.

I have a '93 jeep cherokee and my horn doesn't work. I've checked the fuse and it's fine but now i don't know where to locate the horn itself to check for disconnections or to replace...

LOOK UNDER THE LOWER AIR DEFLECTOR FROM BELOW THE RADIATOR. IF YOU HOT WIRE CAR HORN AND IT WORKS.YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE AIRBAG IN STEERING WITH HORN CONTROL BUTTONS.YOU NEED TO DISABLE AIRBAG IN STEERING WHEEL WHEN REPLACING AIRBAG AND HORN CONTROL BUTTON PAD.JUST TURN OFF RADIO FIRST, THEN DISCONNECT REMOVE THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE.WAIT 20 MINUTES BEFORE WORKING ON AIRBAG AND HORN PAD IN THE STEERING WHEEL.

My airbags blew i need to replace them

You need to replace your "airbag diagnostic monitor", and the "airbag sensors" as well as the airbags.

Once your airbags have been deployed, the airbag sensors may be damaged and may cause deployment for no appearant reason. You must replace the airbag diagnostic monitor, because it's internal thermal fuse blows upon deployment, and will not deploy a new airbag.

If you purchase airbags, and related parts from a salvage yard, make sure the diagnostic monitor is the same model as the one in your vehicle (the model number is on top of the unit, the manufacturing date is listed last and is irrellevant), but ford does use the same unit in most vehicles of the same year.

To replace the system, disconnect your negative battery cable and wait 1 minute before doing anything. Your airbag system is designed to be able to deploy for 1 minute after a power failure, so do wait 1 minute before doing anything.

In a 1995, your airbag diagnostic monitor is located inside the vehicle, center console area, under the heater and blower control assembly. It is a silver box that has 2 wire clips connected to it, and is retained with a couple 10mm bolts. (Don't get it confused with the larger computer that is under the radio area, the monitor is behind the computer)

Your 2 sensors are located in the front of the grill area, and 1 is in the driver wheel well area. All are held in by a few bolts, and have a long wire clip attached.

The driver airbag is held in by 2 bolts that are easily accessed on the back of the steering wheel, then a couple wire clips inside the steering wheel.

The passenger airbag is held in by 4 bolts that are accessed, by removing the glove compartment, and a wire clip behind the airbag in the dash area.

Airbags blow with extreme power and can be as dangerous as helpful. If you intend on doing the work yourself, follow the instructions carefully.

Install everything in reverse, and DO NOT HOOK UP THE BATTERY UNTIL THE REPAIR IS FULLY COMPLETED!

I hope this helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.
