SOURCE: Headlight one side works on bright the other side works on dim

Try swapping the headlight bulbs or buying a known good bulb and testing that way. Sounds like a shorted bulb filament issue.

SOURCE: one headlight lit normal the other is very dim

Switch the lights and see if it is still that side. If it is dim on the other, then it is the headlight itself. If the same side is dim, then check you voltage on wires on both sides and see if you are getting enough on that side. Hope this helps some.

SOURCE: lights will not turn off, brights blue lite on all

Your turn signal/headlight multifunction switch has failed.

To replace it, remove the four screws from the bottom of the steering column cover, split the cover apart.
Unplug the one connector out of the bottom of the headlight switch, then depress the two levers, on top and bottom of the switch housing, and slide the switch out.
Install in reverse order.

Check for corrosion around the battery terminals. Make sure that the terminal connections are clean and tight. Verify that the battery is good and is keeping its charge.

Ok I have seen tons of posts about this issue with the Pontiac Sunfire, but no clear solution. I have a 2001 Sunfire the yesterday the Day Running Lights quit working. My passenger side head light will...

First check the R/S headlight fuse in the dash fuse panel (left side), second make sure the R/S low beam headlight bulb filament isn't blown, both these scenarios will do what you are saying. The DRL's work when both low beam lights are in series, thus only 6v going to each bulb at reduced brilliance. The high beam is a totally separate circuit controlled by the multifunction switch. The DRL relay is controlled by the Body Control Module, grounded there, and it will also illuminate the service vehicle soon light. It could also be a bad ground at G204. Its on the steering column support bracket.

I have a dim headlight on my passenger side .This is on both low beam and high beam.I replaced the bulbs and the problem is still there.

Sounds like a bad ground. Newer cars have a dedicated ground wire going to the headlight plug. Could be broken, could be corroded. Check the wires with a simple 12 volt tester. Hope that helps

the center wire that plugs into the socket is the ground. Always use a OHM meter to check. Then splice in a new wire and ground in to the sheet metal. That way you will receive brighter lights

2003 Sunfire Door Locks unlock when I turn my lights on.

Check your chassis ground strap. There should be a braided cable, or a cable similar to your battery cable, that runs from somewhere on the engine to the chassis. The reason you have multiple items lighting up or working when you try to operate one item is because it is trying to get a ground through another source.

2003 sunfire wiring

I had that problem, and I thought it was the ground as well, but it turns out the splice in the wire harness sits at the absolute lowest level the bundle could, and it collects water. I opened mine up, and it was completely corroded. It appears there was a recall on this, but if you got yours used, as I did, you wouldn't have been notified.
I fixed that, but my fog lights are out now.
