Question about 2006 Nissan Frontier King
2.5L engine. Does it use a timing Chain or Belt? When will it likely need to be replaces (miles)? What will the signs be?

you cant . you have to open up the front of the engine. and every gear has to be in time. buy a repair manual for this car and it will show you how.

SOURCE: 2003 Nissan Maxima Timing Chain
You can wait its just fine, However if you ever start to notice oil leaking from front cover, then you will need to change. If there is no loss in power feel sluggish especially on take off, Its almost impossible for these type of chains to break. So enjoy until the wheel fall off..lol. good luck

For the 2001 Nissan Maxima 3.0L SFI DOHC V6:
It has a Timing Chain.
Unlike Timing Belts, Timing Chains will normally last the lifetime of the car. However, when it is time to change the Water Pump: it is a really great idea to change the Timing Chain and Camshaft and Crankshaft Sprockets, as you are in the vicinity and have already torn down everything already.
Professionally, but not officially, I like the 100,000 miles rule with Timing Chains.
