SOURCE: My 2003 Kia Rio Cinco back hatch latch handle is

We had the same problem.
I took out the bolts outside, then crawled into the back area of the car, and took a screw driver, and slid it along the inner hatch catch, and found the safety latch and released the hatch. Then I took the inside off, and disconnected the handle device from the inside. It was rusted, and broken. I went to Kia, and bought a new one and reinstalled, after greasing the new one up. Took me a while, but they wanted 280.00 in labor, so it was well worth it.
Just be patient and go slow. A good metric socket set will be the best thing, with a regular and phillips screw driver.
Good luck

SOURCE: How do you manually release the rear hatch in a

This happened to me, I removed the interior light fixture on the rear hatch and reached in to pull the connecting rod, this works for an one off opening, you will need to take the panel off once the hatch is open and repair your outer handle, our connection was broken at the handle which I repaired and it works great. Hope this helps.

Hi,

you might have move through the bottom of the car to open the hood. Or possibly by removing a tiring and use a long pole of some sort to unleash the latch that holds the hood down while someone else raises the hood.

Thank you.

Hood latch will not open or release hood. Kia Rio 5 2007

Did you try having someone push down on the hood above the latch while you pull the release? If not, try that and if it opens you can adjust it.

How do i open the broken hood on 2007 kia rio

This is a problem its cable operated the cable could have slipped in side of the vehicle in witch case you can grab the cable with vise grips and pull back. This is the best option ever if it slipped under the hood .
This is really your fault you should have done something when you first started having issues with it these things are easy to adjust and lub before you have this problem

2006 kia rio door handle rod broken

2006 Kia Rio is a cable not a rod and most often the cable will break at the connection point near the handle, there is a metal end that is manufatured on the cable and where these two meet is a weak or high stress point. The problem is there is no fix for this other than replacing the door latch which has the cables attached to it at the factory. Cost can run from $55 to $125 dollars depending on where you purchase. Replacing is basic DIY removing window crank, door handle trim piece, door panel, then unbolting latch assembly and replacing with new one. Reverse assemble door and problem solved.

Driver side door handle doesn't work anymore!!

Either the cable/cable end has broken or the handle has broken where the cable slides in and pivots. I believe you do have a cable system in that door but if it is a rod system it would be something similar.

You must either remove the handle from the door card or remove the door card itself to see exactly whats gone wrong. Unless something has just fallen apart, you will more than likely need to buy a handle or cable. Good luck
