Door control receiver part # 89741 or 89741B located in rear passenge pillar behind plastic trim or just below pillar in trunk behind carpeted trim held on by a screw wiring harness plugged into it.
fold down passenger rear seat very carefully remove plasic pillar trim and pull back carpeting find wiring and follow up or down and unplug receiver and remove retaining screw and match numbers to make sure you have correct part and plug new in and install screw and check operation then put everything back as you found it.

There are two clips in in the handle lever. One clip is above and one below. Slide a flatheaded screwdriver between the handle and the casing to pop the casing loose. You have to do this on the top and bottom. Once the casing is loose you can take that off and the door should come undone.

Yes, you have to remove the door panel.
Remove the 2 plastic protectors on the front edge, and remove the 2 brass colored screws. Next, remove the push pins from the latch side. Push in, and pull out the whole thing. Next, under the armrest, remove the screw. Lift up the power windoe control, being careful to not break the plastic retainer tab. Remove the screw under the window control. Starting at the bottom, pull out the panel, and, when all of the clips are loose, pull the panel straight up. It is best to do this with the door panel as warm as possible, like in a heated garage. Doing this outside in the cold will break all of the plastic retainer clips; they are quite brittle whn cold.
I hope this helps
Thanks for choosing FIxYa for assistance. A FIxYa rating (4 blue diamonds) would be greatly appreciated.
SOURCE: To remove the interior door panel of a 1996 Toyota camry so that
My 96 Camry LE has 9 attachments that are visible. Some have plastic caps covering the screws; others do not. There are screws at the door handle, at the forward portion(with covers) when the door is open and the back edge (small covers). As I recall, there are several friction type fasteners around the perimiter of the panel that can be removed by prying carefully away from the metal portion of the door to free up the trim panel. Once these are loose, the trim around the inside door release handle (the one you pull to open the door) can be pryed in a backward motion. Then the entire panel can be removed by pulling upward and backward at the same time (it easier to do this with the window down). Then it is a matter of disconnecting the wires attached to the various controls for the electric windows and door locks to free up the panel itself. There is probably a plastic skin covering the metal portion of the door. Carefully pull that away to expose the inner workings of the door latch mechanisim. The rest of the procedure should become easy to figure out. I have not removed the exterior door handle itself; but it is a simple mechanism as I recall. Best of luck to you.

There is a motor that lock and unlocks each door, and it's sometimes part of the door latch assembly. These do go bad. First try spraying some penetrating oil on the latch (open the door, you will see it, as it's at the opening, 1/2 the way up the door) as it may free it up. Ohterwise, you need to get the latch checked out.
