Check the brake control switch situated just above the break pedal arm under the dashboard. Could be a wire loose or unplugged or the switch itself could be faulty
The few places that I know that has free info is the library and then there's Autozone, once you sign up to be a member the info is free. Try Autozone.com
The switch is down on the brake pedal lever arm near the pivot stradling the master cylinder actuating rod. You can verify the wiring is okay by using a paperclip to jumper the two wires and verify the brake lights do come on- if they do- replace the switch by removing that bolt that retains the actuating rod, and the switch slips out once the bolt is removed, Reinstallation is just like removal only opposite steps- verify the flat on the actuator is contacting the switch and works correctly once installed. nut and Bolt should be torqued to about 20 to 30 Ft Pounds.
look under by your brake pedal, there is a switch that has two wires to it, make sure plug has not been knocked off, if it is intact, check to see that one of the two wires have power, if you have power, fuses are ok, jump the two wires and check to see if your brake light are on! if they now work, you need a brake switch, if you do not have power then you need to check your fuses..
i have seen many times that the connector gets bumped and makes a poor connection
good luck and hope this helps feel free to ask questions by responding to the thread
If there are no brake lights period the check the stop switch (brake light switch)
This is attached to the upper part of the brake pedal itself. Should be a little wire off of it. When that goes bad the brake lights will not work at all.
Please note that the fuse for "brakes" is ABS only and has no bearing on the brake lights themselves working.
yes it sounds like the converter is no good, the converters purpose is, when you have a trailer it uses the brake and signal on the same bulb, so if you were to step on the brake and have the left signal on, then the left brake light would turn into the signal,on your truck it has sperate lights for signal and brake, the converter converts this into one light for the trailer, so just replace the converter and everything should work fine, hope this helps.
You can go to autozone.com and then register for full free online repair manual for your buick. They have all the diagams you could need. Do you have the drum or disc brake in your century? They made them with both.
There is a probable bad wiring connection in problem one and three.
#2 Possible water leak causing bulb break. Try wd40 in socket. you need
a wiring diagam and cheap voltmeter if you want do it yourself.
