SOURCE: 2001 beetle. epc light on. car won't start.

It sounds like your alternator is not charging. You may want to have it tested and replace/rebuild it if necessary. Many times the problem is that the brushes are worn in the alternator and it stops charging correctly. The brushes are usually attached to the voltage regulator and are replaceable if you have the parts and skill. You can also replace the voltage regulator/brush assembly as a unit.

Many parts stores will test your alternator for free.

If you need more help, post a comment.

Tim

2005 VW Beetle. Engne light on and EPC light comes on with significantly reduced power.

Sounds like all those sensors are going to need replaced. Basically, they are all in charge of metering the air and fuel to the engine, so if they are malfunctioning, the car isn't going to run correctly.

My epc light came on and i lost power

I am having the same problem with my beetle, does another triangular light come on at the same time?

I'll be watching to see how this gets answered. My car is in the shop now and other than EPC meaning the Electronic Powertrain Control, the mechs can't help me because they can't catch it with the light on to get the codes.

Today the check engine came on along with the EPC, so tomorrow I hope to have an answer. I'll be sure to let you know.

Epc light is shown on dash board

Have you check to see if you have pressed your EPC button mistake? If not My tire pressure was low on my 04 beetle covt. on my drivers side rear. THis caused my EPC light to come on and the EPC to engage. But because of the location of the EPC button it is really easy to hit it by mistake I would check that 1st.
