The temperature gauge goes up to hot if i have my engine idle for too long but regains it normal status as soon i drive for a while

check to see if the fan comes on if not check fuses if it comes on flush engine and radiator then change the thermastate this should cure the problem

Fan fuse

If you are referring to the cooling fan in the front of the radiator, it is a hydraulic system, not electric in the LS from 2000-2002 and thus has no fuse. If you are referring to the blower motor, I can give you that fuse location.

My cooling fan wont turn on and engin stays at normal temp. how do i know im getting a correct reading i did have to replace the radiator replaced

electric fans only run when it needs to. There should be a Thermal switch on the radiator. Short that switch to Ground and fans should run. Turn On AC and one fan should run.

Why does my cadillac deville heat up

If you look by the Radiator there will be an Electric fan motor. This Radiator fan may have 2 speeds. When the A/C is turned on, it will turn on at least low speed. Otherwise Water Temperature sensors make it work and spin to cool the Radiator.

You need to have this circuit checked. You need to find out if the Electric fan is any good and if both speeds work. The sensors for the fan may not be turning it on or may not be turning it on with High speed. Some Models have a Water Temperature sensor and some have a second sensor just for the Water gauge.
You need to investigate just the part that turns on the Electric Radiator fan.

There may be fuses for the Relays which operate this Radiator fan. The Relay that gets the signal from the sensor may not be working either.

While it sounds like a lot of parts, it makes sense when you know why the parts are there. A Temperature sensor turns on the Relay which has the strength to connect and maintain power to the Electric Radiator fan and operate the multiple speeds. If a fuse breaks, there is a bad part in the system. Just replacing a broken fuse will not fix the bad part.

You need to trace down the bad part and get it off your car. If you already have paid a shop and the car is not fixed, then they should investigate what I am writing to you. Morally, they should continue to test your car for the money you paid to keep it from overheating.

The parts you put on it already will not hurt and could have been part of the problem. Now you need to get the rest of the problem fixed.

Engine light came on and car is over heating. Took it to auto zone and was told it's the fan relay. Its a 2003 PT Cruiser, Turbo. I opened the fuse box under hood. There are 3 spots for relays in there...

Turbo Radiator Fan

The radiator cooling fan is a variable speed electric motor driven fan. The radiator fan assembly includes an electric motor, fan blade, and a support shroud that is attached to the radiator. The radiator fan is serviced as an assembly (fan motor/fan/shroud).

The variable speed radiator fan is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) by way of a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) signal. The duty cycle ranges from 30% for low speed operation then ramps-up to 100% for high-speed operation. This fan control system provides infinitely variable fan speeds, allowing for improved fan noise, A/C performance, better engine cooling, and additional vehicle power.

To control radiator fan operation, the PCM looks at inputs from:

Engine coolant temperature
A/C pressure transducer
Ambient temperature
Vehicle speed
Transmission oil temperature (automatic transmission only

2004 audi a4 temperature is going on high when driving and then temperature goes to normal when i stop

SOUND LIKE FAULTY CLUTCH FAN OR THE AUXILIARY ELECTRIC COOLANT FAN NOT RUNNING. CHECK AUXILIARY FAN FUSE AND RELAY. IF LOOK GOOD HOT WIRE TO SEE IF FAN TURNS ON IF NOT FAN FAULTY. IF FAN RUNS YOU HAVE FAULTY THERMO SWITCH. WHICH LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM OF RADIATOR ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OR ON THE LOWER RADIATOR HOSE ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.IF FANS OKAY COOLANT LEVEL CORRECT.REPLACE THERMOSTAT.HAVE RADIATOR AND ENGINE FLUSHED.CHECK IN FRONT OF GRILLE MAKE SURE NO DEBRIS BLOCKING OFF AIR FLOW THROUGH RADIATOR CORES AND AC CONDENSOR CORES.

Car is overheating when stopped or idling

It sounds like your electric fan is not working, check the fuse to the radiator fan and that should be located in the fuse box in the engine compartment close to the battery. Look to make sure the fuse and relays are good and then work your way to the fan to make sure the wire harness is good and not damaged due to corrosion. Good luck and please be safe when working around the electric fans.

2001 Kia Sportage fuse 4 radiator fan?

Radiator fan fuse is fuse # 5 (40 amp/Green) located behind the interior fuse access panel on the left side of the instrument panel next to the steering column. Also, in the underhood Power distribution center, next to the air cleaner filter are two black fan relays: high speed (F) at the far left, second row down and a low speed, 1st one to the right on the bottom row.

When I excelerate or stop for a long period of time my car starts over heating, what do you think the problem is?

It could be a faulty: 1-Radiator fan, Check the fuse. 2-Bad Thermostat, Change the Thermostat 3-Weak Water pump, Change the Water Pump.
Easiest thing to do is see if the fuse to the Electric radiator fan is bad. If it's good, then start up the car and see if it goes on when the temperature starts to get hot. I think the fan activates around 190". If the fan does not turn on, check for lose wires and bad grounds to the electric motor. Take caution, fan may activate without warning.
If the electric fan works good, then change the Thermostat. It may have failed and stuck in the shut position. After changing the Thermostat and problem still there, good chances are that it's the Water pump that may be faulty.
Before you go all though that trouble, check the Antifreeze level, make sure you have lots in there and just don't look at the radiator antifreeze reservoir. Look in the filler cap and the radiator cap. The plastic can become stained making it look like it is full but it's really empty.
Good luck and hope this help. Oh don't buy any radiator flush, it may clean up any dirt that my be plugging up any holes in the system, you do have a 6 year old car.

Electric radiator fan won't come on when engine gets hot

I had the same problem. Check the fans relay behind the front grill, in front of the radiator, more accesible if you take the headlight (driver's side) out.
