Should be able to test it with a meter. Clutch pedal up it should be open and clutch pedal down it should be closed.

I have a 96 ford mustang Gt. When I push the clutch in the car wont start up. I have power and the battery and the fuses are good.

It should have a clutch saftey switch on the clutch pedal. Its a saftey feature simular to a neutral saftey switch it will only allow the engine to crank when the pedal is fully depressed.

How to check starter of SaturnSL1 if it is good or just wiring loose, etc. need troubleshooting advice

Make sure that the car is in park (or neutral on manual transmitions) with the emergency brake on. Use a temporary starter switch that you can buy at an auto parts store. Connect one end to the small post on the starter. Connect the other to the battery + (positive) terminal. Tap the starter switch and see if the engine will turn over. If the starter does not turn over it's the starter. If it does turn over, connect a test light to the small starter terminal wire and ground the other end to the chassis or - (negative) terminal on the battery. Turn the ignition switch to the start position and see if the light turns on. (you will have to hold the clutch pedal down on a manual transmition car) On a car with an automatic transmition, If the light does not turn on you have narrowed it down to the saftey switch on the gear selector or the ignition switch. On a manual transmition car you have narrowed it down to the saftey switch on the clutch pedal or the ignition switch. Both of the saftey switches can be jumped (temporarily for diagnostics) with a small piece of wire (stripped back about 1/2 inch on both ends) inserted into the terminal connector. Locate the appropriate switch for manual or automatic transmitions and disconnect the switch at the connector and insert the wire into the connector to bypass the saftey switch and turn the ignition switch to the start position. If the light turns on there was a problem with the saftey switch, if not then it is the ignition switch.

2000 diesel ram 3500 starter will not turn engine 20% of starts. After clicking key a few times, starter will turn. Starter was replaced and same thing happens. Is there something else in the start circuit...

relays are common on dodges, go in fuse box, pick another one such as horn,a/c one that you dont need to run but know is good and swap it out. try that, it could be the ign. switch too, neutral saftey switch on a auto, and clutch safety switch on a manual. make sure nothings jammed underneith clutch pedal also and your pushing it all the way down. check for dirty battery connections to. good luck!

Won't start 200 Vitara

No switch on the brake but there is a neutral safety switch that would prevent your car from starting if you are in nuetral if you have an automatic transmission. If you have a manual, there is a cutch safety switch and you have to have the clutch all the way to the floor to trip the switch. Make sure your floor mats are clear of your clutch- I have seen that happen time and time again. Try of engaging the emergency barke instead of pressing the brake pedal and see if that makes a differnce. Let me know how that works for you!
Good luck!!.

My 1998 s10 2.2 truck will not start

-If the starter is only clicking or it is acting as if the clutch pedal was never pushed down- it is either one two things, (1) the click, click sound may be due to a bad battery connection or bad wire contact to the starter motor. (2) the neutral saftey switch which is attached to the clutch master cylinder on the inside of the vehicle, (under the dash) is deffective or needs adjusting-it is easier to simply replace it., no complex tools are needed for either repair, just a voltmeter to check wire connections on the battery to starter motor, or a small screwdriver driven socket to remove the screws holding the lower part of the dash together (below the steering column)- I hope this was helpful, I ran into a lot of problems after I swapped an engine and rebuilt the transmission on my 98 s10 but I eventually worked most of the problems out.
