I have a 1998 dodge stratus 2.4 liter and have replaced the input and out put speed sensors. Engine light went off but now I have a p1698 code is on. Car is still in lymp mode and all of the transmission lights (P,R, D, 3,2) are on and the odomiter does not read. As I understand the probem is the TCM and PCM are not talking to each other. Do I have to reset the codes in the car? Is this a bad ground? Other? Thanks,

P0700 DODGE - Transaxle Control System Malfunction. Tech notesP0700 is just and informative fault code that indicates a malfunction has occurred in the automatic transmission and the TCM has requested the PCM to turn on the Check engine light you must now have the dealer scan the TCM for more codes to resolve the problem.P1698 DODGE - DTC Detected in Companion JTEC Module, These codes are related and you need the dealer to scan the system.
the most common is a bad cluster
you have to remove it
that could be a pain but it can be done
after removing the cluster remove the cardboard cover in the back remove
circuit panel board and check in the middle for a broken weld here your question for your insterment panel
The Transmission Control Module (TCM) is not communicaring with the PCM.
Check all fuses. It could be a power or ground problem or a ccd bus communication wiring problem.
If not it's likely an internal failure in the TCM.
You may be able to get a schamatic at your local library.
If it's not a power, ground or wiring issue you should take it to a dealer with a DRB III to confirm the diagnosis.
Best of Luck!

Code P1698 means
* P1698 PCM Failure EEPROM Write Denied
* P1698 -No CCD messages from the Transmission or Body Control Module (TCM or BCM) Probably needs a new PCM (Aka computer or ECU)
The code P1698 is: No CCD messages from TCM. That means the communication between the Transmission Control Module and the Power Control Module is lost. Sometimes this happens when a PCM, or TCM is replaced without being flashed, a bad connection at the PCM, TCM, or a bad TCM. Hope this helps.
It means that it didn't receive a signal from the transmision module.
Have your transmission control module checked.
To reset your engine codes: Remove the negative terminal of your battery (10mm wrench). Turn your ignition key to START and hold it there for about 15 seconds. Turn your ignition key to OFF and remove it. Connect the negative terminal of your battery.
TCM (Trans control Module)
(electronic transmission control module)
Both the Input and Output speed sensors or mounted on the side of the trans, they are not to far away from each other, you will see the electrical plug coming out of eack one of them. They are round, biege in color with a black end on it where the connector plugs into. If you don't know which one is bad you will need to replace them both.
This is a bus communication issue. Does the car have a remote starter?
