The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor, is located on or around the intake manifold, and provides constant information concerning the amount of pressure inside the intake manifold.
Don't know what kind of car this is, but if it's got a MAF sensor, or an Air Flow Meter sensor, then there is no map sensor. Only one or the other. Black smoke, eh? Sounds like you're on the right track.
top front of engine, you will see a large electrical plug perhaps 8 wires that comes apart right in the front of the engine the map is right next to it.
check the map sensor located on the right side of the firewall above the heater box.i had the same problem on my F-250 and the map sensor vacuum line was not hooked up.
Hi, the manifold absolute pressure (M.A.P) sensor is located on the intake manifold. I am not familiar with the GMC vehicles as I am in South Africa. The M.A.P sensor is usually situated on the top of the intake manifold furthest from the air intake/ throttle body. I hope this info will help.
