Can't find location for trailer elect hook-up

'98 Dodge Dakota, want to use to haul small trailer, I see trailer hook-up kits for sale but I don't know where to find the place it attaches to my wiring system. I have looked under the back of the truck. Thanks! Charlie Mitchell

There is no factory connector you must tap into the existing wiring for brake, turn signals, tail and running lights, they make special adapters to "piggy back" into these wiries, U-Haul trailer rental can do (install and sell) this kit for u very cheap.

I'm struggling to locate the trailer electrical hook-up on my vehicle. Despite thorough searching, I can't seem to find the designated spot. This is causing frustration as I'm unable to connect the trailer properly. Any assistance or guidance on the precise location for the trailer electrical hook-up would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Call dealer & ask them to run your vin# to see if it came with towing package. They shouldn't mind. If not, you'll have to wire it in yourself.

Hooked my 2007 Sprinter camping trailer to the factory lights/brakes hook-up located below bumper of my 2005 Silverado 4x4 extended cab truck. Everything works fine except for the right trailer turn...

Is this a 4 way or 6 way connection system? If your truck is wrong, then all factory equipped trailer package harnesses would be wrong, tell your trailer guy...I don't think so.
Is this the first trailer you have hauled?
Let me know, and we will go from there.

1998 Dodge Dakota Brake Fuse

If you have a trailer plug installed trace the wires to see if there is a bare spot or broken wire.If no plug then you need to check for bare wire or broken wire from tail lamp assemblys to where the wire plugs into main wireing harness.
