Corsa bakkie gear box repair

14 months ago, I had to spend major funds in replacing manual gearbox. Today I just got a quote from Opel Dealship AGIN for the same thing. How is this possible? What is the cause of this?

Nothing wrong with the Corsa. My aunt could wreck a gear box every three months. After she wrecking 7 gearboxes, she switched to automatic transmission. That solved the problem.

Seriously now, how can you wreck a gear box by driving? I've just not understood this.

  • Harrie Jul 23, 2014

NO Sorry. I did answer lots of questions yesterday and the story about my aunt is really truth. What I forgot to tell is that my uncle loved to drive a 25 year old car and never replaced the gearbox with a new on, but one that came from another 25 year old car.

Still it could be possible to wreck a gearbox, but I don't think it is possible with a new or good revised gearbox. Or if the clutch is not working correct it could happen. The only other thing is if you engage the clutch the wrong way, don't press the pedal deep enough, and not long enough and you hear strange noise and and, if you really mistreat the gearbox, I think it could happen. But honestly I don't believe anyone would or could drive like this. When a gearbox is defect after 7 months I start thinking of bad workmanship from the person who build it in, or a second hand gearbox whiteout revision was used. And yes I had to laugh to, remembering the story of mu aunt, now in her eighties because the story was about 40 years ago and almost forgotten.

SOURCE: timing marks on engine

Use the timing marks on the damper for the crank and bring it to 0 on the cam there are marks that correspond with a mark on the head. Look on autozone dot com and put in the year make and model then look at the free repair guides.

SOURCE: My Opel Corsa dies down during driving, it will only start again after 7 to 10 mins, l have no clue whats happening.

No idea offhand to be honest i would need my head under the bonnet to know what wrong .could be anything from the gauze filter in the fuel tank on the bottom of the fuel pump becoming chocked up and leaving the car allows it to drop away to a faulty pump overheating or the contacts ,maybe even a ignition module overheating ,Best advice is ask a local mechanic to have a look for you as normally these early opel corsas with the 4 cylinder engine are bullet proof they are even valve free if the timing belt snaps .

Add fuel injector cleaner to fuel and see if that helps.
If problem goes away then you're lucky.
If problem abates a little, then fuel injector change may be warranted.

Corsa bakkie

see if there is oil in the gearbox. usually a plug on the side of the gearbox. if no oil in it and no visible sign of leakage, then they probably did not put oil in the gearbox.
