When I start my car in the morning there is a screeching noise as if a belt is slipping on my 1997 Acura Tl 2.5

The first time I start my Acura TL 2.5 in the morning it makes a loud screeching noise. What is causing this noise?

What you describe is consistant with a lifter not pumping up except at a little higher rpm, which would make sense. You have overhead cams, with hydrolic lifters. They pump up with oil. If you have one that is not fully "pumped", it will make a clicking noise when the camlobe moves it and it strikes the valve. This is not the only thing it could be...and maybe it is the tensioner, but if it is coming from the valve area....Also, your dealer should have a special stethescope so the mechanic can listen in spots, and move the pick-up to where the noise gets louder and make a better diagnosis.

SOURCE: ACURA TL 2007 HEAVY NOISE IN THE ENGINE FOR 4 5

There are two mechanical noises you will hear from an engine, lifter noise, wrist pin slap, and rod bearing noise. The only one that will go away, if at all, with engine warm-up, is lifter noise. All assuming of course, the noise is coming from the engine, and not any of the externally mounted accessories.
Have the oil changed, and continue to change every 2000-3000 miles with a good quality oil, maybe the lifter will clear itself. If it does, maintain the oil changes for the next few changes to assure it is cleaning out.
You might also try adding 1-2 pints Berrymen's Chemtool to the oil 200-300 miles before you plan to change the oil.

Possible thermostat but more likely fan belt is slipping when idling causing waterpump to slow or even stop spinning. Tighten or replace fan belt that runs over waterpump pulley

Sounds like the transmission is starting to slip. If you have an Acura dealer check for fault codes, you will more than likely find a malfunction code for the transmission.
