I have a 1994 crown vic that won\'t accelerate unless I feather the gas. I changed the mass air inflow sensor and the air temp sensor. It still runs like crap and won\'t accelerate.
Re: Hello? Emission problem 1994 crown vic here...
I owned one of these. There is a groove under the butterfly horn of the throttle. There are 8 bolts and a $10 gasket. Often the EGR passage is clogged and it throws off the calibrations and when you clean this groove the engine will run much better.

1. download torque pro (free app) & purchase the iSaddle Super Mini ELM327 V1.5 OBD2 OBD-II Bluetooth CAN-BUS Auto Diagnostic Tool on amazon for $15 delivered. You will need it to get diagnostic info and codes. Cheaper and better than any OBD you can buy in the store and works from the app on you phone and communicates by bluetooth. You can pull and record real time info while driving.
2. join a crown vic owner forum for more specific info.
did you scan it it can be many things like mass air flow sensor or a emission gas recirculating valve you must get a code from scanner tool.you could also have a bad throttle position sensor which is mounted on side of throttel body
The car is designed not to spin it's wheels when taking off. If you want to make it do that you need to either change the powertrain programming or replace some powertrain parts.
This sounds like a normal condition. What happens is the cold start emission reduction component monitor(software program in the computer) is running.
Cold Start Emission Reduction Component Monitor
The Cold Start Emission Reduction Component Monitor was introduced for the 2006 MY on vehicles that meet the
LEV-II emission standards. The monitor works by validating the operation of the components of the system
required to achieve the cold start emission reduction strategy, namely retarded spark timing and elevated idle
airflow.
When the CSER strategy is enabled, the idle air control system will request a higher idle rpm, elevating engine
airflow. While this CSER elevated airflow is requested, the low airflow test compares the measured idle airflow from
the MAF sensor to the commanded idle airflow from the idle air control strategy.
when you hold the accelerator does the vehicle stay running? if so the problem is in ithe IAC idle air control motor, take a small screw driver and using the handle tap the iac motor and usualy the motor will kick in and the vehicle will run fine then if the problem is rectified replace the IAC
