SOURCE: fault codes P0722 and P0717

You just need to replace the sensors. If you are mechanically inclined, you can do it yourself. If you don't feel comfortable working on an expensive transmission, take it to the dealer.

SOURCE: I Have A 2000 Hyundai

P1529 - MIL light request

P0722 - Transmission Pulse Generator B. The Pulse Generator detects the revolution of the idler gear parking pawl lock gear and emits a pulse signal. The pulse signal is sent to the Transmission Control Module (TCM) which converts it into vehicle speed. The code is detected when the Pulse Generator B failed to provide a signal to the TCM upon initial movement of vehicle.

Symptoms:
- Engine Light On (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Speedometer improper reading
- Possible shifting problems

Possible Causes:
- Pulse Generator B harness or connectors
- Pulse Generator B circuit is open or shorted
- Pulse Generator B

SOURCE: have 2 codes (P1529) and (P0722) what sensors are

P1529 means nothing more than the TCM (transmission control module) has requested that the ECM (engine control module) turn on the check engine lamp.
On top of the ******, by the selector lever, there is the range switch. Disconnect, clean therminals, add some dielectric gears to the terminals, and reconnect. Disconnect negative battery terminal for 30+ sec., reconnect terminal, drive car and see if MIL come on again.

P0722 indicates a problem with the pulse generator B (output speed sensor) signal. Hyundai has identified an issue where the transmission control module (TCM) improperly interprets induced signals in the vehicle speed sensor signal wire as signals from the speed sensor itself, making the TCM think there is a problem with the pulse generator signal. Information on the problem is in TSB 03-40-016. In most cases, reprogramming the TCM solves the issue, but this work must be done by the dealer. I'd expect you'd pay one to two hours of labor for the diagnosis and reprogramming.

Codes p0722 and p0717 what is the problem?

p0722 stands for output speed sensor, this sensor might be in need of replacement, p0717 is for transmission turbine speed sensor, P0717 code comes with the following symptoms: engine cutting out, misfire and hard start after the engine is warmed up. check the coil plugs which is the equivalent of spark plugs except it does not have any plug wires. Start with the mileage and if the engine has over 100k miles, usually the coil plugs are worn. You can check it by checking the coil plug wells on the valve cover. If soaked with oil, the coil plug is normally shot and this goes the same for the valve cover gasket. Apparently, when the valve cover leaks oil, it is deposited in the coil plug well and starts shorting the coil plugs because of the contaminated oil. Note: when changing coil plugs, always replace them ALL as a set.
