How to fix emission problems ?

Get some Carburettor cleaner spray from an auto center.
Take the pipe off into the air filter unit attached to the Carburettor it normally has a large ring clip around the black pipe so you may be able to use a slot screwdriver or a small ratched driver to remove.
Put a small piece of cloth into the carburettor unit to stop too much contamination going back into the system . Use a cloth or paper towel to wipe off any excess oil inside the carburettor. Spray the carburettor cleaner inside the unit , Using an old Tootchbrush give it a rub to degrease the old oil and fuel. Be careful to Open up the open and closing circular small valve spray a little bit of cleanir inside and using a long piece of cloth clean any contaminated area inside the carburettor.
Dont ruch this and get as much old oil and grease from inside the carburettor as you can. Taking care to remove all the bits of cloth and paper tissue . .
Start the car up with the Carburettor still open to the world.
With the car running and the Carburettor opening and closing spray a little more of the cleaner using the straw in the nozzle into the inside , please make sure you are standing to the side so nothing comes back out into your eyes.

With the carburettor now much cleaner . Put the air pipes back on and take it for a run . At your next fill up of fuel put in a fuel addative for Engine System cleaning and this should help with the emissions.

Switch to gas

check the solenoid on petrol line from fuel pump to carburettor is switching off petrol to carburettor when switching, you should hear the solenoid clicking when operating. Alternatively you can disonnect pipe fueline at carburettor, turn key ,if petrol comes out of line make sure it shuts off when you turn switch from petrol to LPG

The service engine light is on in my Mustang and the computer is giving me the code for the EGR system. I've already replaced the EGR sensor and that didn't fix the problem. What else could I try?...

Exhaust gas recirculation - when your car is at running temperature it runs lean. A lean running engine has very hot ignition temperatures. This not only risks burning the valves but it also creates the ideal conditions for nitrogen to combine with oxygen; nitrous oxides are harmful emissions and are to be avoided. The EGR valve recirculates a metered amount of inert exhaust gas back into the inlet mix and artificially enriching the mix by effectively reducing the amount of oxygen. The engine ignition runs much cooler as a result, cool enough to avoid oxides of nitrogen from forming. The EGR valve sits between the inlet and exhaust manifolds. The EGR valve is most often opened electrically by the ECU when the engine is above idle at about 3000 rpm. The operation of the EGR is monitored by a DPFE sensor which measures pressure variation brought about by the opening of the EGR valve. The EGR valve is bolted on with two bolts and has an electrical connection to the top of it. Dismantle the EGR valve taking car not to damage the gasket as you can reuse it. Use plenty of WD40 or carburettor cleaner and clean the EGR pintle valve until like new and has full freedom of movement. Make sure the ports are clean before reassembly. That should be it unless the solenoid mechanism within the valve has burnt out in which case it will need replacing.

Runs as if it is flooding black smoke and missis

It sounds like a stuck or worn needle in the carburettor. It is like the ball valve in your toilet. If it is you will need to replace it and the seat. It is inside the carburettor and allows the right amount of fuel into the fuel bowl. Over time the it wears and the needle does not sit properly in the seat so it leaks. Some times it wont close properly if it becomes gunked up. If the needle sticks open the carburettor floods and nothing works properly. It is a simple enough fix to do yourself but a good mechanic should be able to sort it in about half an hour.

ABS brake module sounds like a motor running and won't stop unless battery is disconnected. what is fix?

I would pull the fuse for the ABS hydraulic pump and then put it back in and see what happens. Don't ever recall a pump running. Dealer may need to hook up scan tool for diagnostic fault codes, DTCs.

Principles of Operation
The ABS control module receives wheel speed readings from both front wheel speed sensors and the rear differential speed sensor, and processes this information to determine if an ABS event is necessary. The wheel speed sensor electrically senses each tooth of the ABS sensor indicators as it passes through the wheel speed sensor's magnetic field.
The ABS control module continuously monitors and compares the rotational speed of each wheel speed sensor indicator and, when it detects an impending wheel lock, modulates brake pressure to the appropriate brake caliper(s). This is accomplished by triggering the hydraulic control unit (HCU) to open and close the appropriate solenoid valves. Once the affected wheel returns to normal speed, the ABS control module returns the solenoid valves to their normal position, and normal (base) braking resumes.
The ABS control module is self-monitoring. When the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position, the ABS control module will do a preliminary electrical check, and at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph), the pump motor is turned on for approximately one-half second. Any malfunction of the ABS system will cause the ABS to shut off; normal power assisted braking, however, remains.
Inspection and Verification — Scan Tool Communications Check
  1. Verify the customer concern by carrying out the Drive Cycle Test.
  1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

Visual Inspection Chart Mechanical Electrical
  • Parking brake cable
  • Tire pressure
  • Tire size or mismatched tires
  • Blown fuse
  • Central junction box (CJB):

  • Front anti-lock brake sensor (2C204)
  • Front anti-lock brake sensor indicator (2C182)
  • Hydraulic control unit (2C219)
