In USA this is ILLEGAL.
do you mean odometer, trip counter>?

According to a buddy of mine who did it on a 99:

Pull up on the little trim piece behind the steering wheel. Underneath it are two phillips screws. Remove them and the instrument cluster will wiggle out. You'll have to disconnect the plugs on the back of the instrument cluster. They can be a little tricky, and even moreso to reinstall. You'll see how the bulbs come out after that.

Turn off the ignition press and hold the button on the leftside of the display while turning the ignition on it should say service oil on the display pull out the button on the rightside of the display until the service oil clears

Hi Gurus, got an AUDI a4 2002-03 tdi, I put key in ignition, car turns over but does not come on, tried resetting via immobiliser i.e in door etc, but nothing! + on my speedo it comes up SAFE in addition...

Well its just shows the level of staff employed by the AA ,anyway i have looked up resetting the immobilisor and this year onwards it says to reset immobilisor dealer diagnostic software only .So it looks like a breakdown wagon to teh dealer and sile when you get the bill.Make sure you give them all the keys for the car

Fixed service intervals
Press and hold button [A] 24297. Switch ignition ON. Release button [A]. The words "SERVICE" or "SERVICE IN xxxx MI" will appear in the trip recorder display. Press button [B] until the display clears and is replaced with the new service interval or "SERVICE!". Switch ignition OFF.
BUTTON A IS RIGHT OFF CHECK BUTTON BELOW SPEEDO
BUTTON B IS RIGHT OFF BUTTON A

I'm after changing my front brake pad on my 03 audi a4 afterward speedometer isn't working and engine check light abs esp light are all on

The speedo not working causes these 3 lights to come on due to the speed of the car needed for the ABS ESP to work . Engine management light is on due to the first 2 lights . Happenned to me last night. Dont know what is up with your speedo . You have to reset the lights after speedo fixing as I am uncertain whether they will reset themselves.

there is a dimmer switch . left hand button next to rev couter. twist left or right with headlights on
