You should ask , for example :hello i have passat 2008 my VIN is WVWZZZ....... i have problem on idle ? when the engine is warming up? when the engine is hot? when i accelerate ? ect... shaking means many things , i can help you but i need to know your Vehicle Identyfication Number wich is 17 letters and digits combination. www.tdiservice.pl
If the engine is running at a normal temperature I would suspect the thermostat.
Normally from a cold start the coolant should only circulate through the bypass hose, the heater matrix, and back through the engine, As the engine warms up and the thermostat begins to open the coolant is directed through the main radiator - at this point you will be able to feel the upper and lower radiator hoses warming up.
If the thermostat is faulty and permanently open you will be able to feel the upper and lower radiator hoses warming up very soon after starting the engine and at the same time as you feel the heater hoses begin to warm. This causes most of the heat to be radiated away and so the heater will never warm up.
Unfortunately the thermostat is hidden underneath the water pump on a passat and requires the cooling system to be drained before it can be changed. It may also require the power steering pump to be removed to get access to the thermostat cover.
Even though your lights and radio are working fine it could be that your battery doesn't have enough charge to start the engine. Try jump starting the Passat, if it starts right up then that's a really good sign that you have a bad battery. If you have a voltage tester you can also test the voltage level across the battery terminals when you try to start the engine. If the voltage drops below 12v when you try to start the car then you need a new battery. It could also be your started going bad but what you're describing is usually caused by a bad battery.
You might try resynchronizing the remote first before getting a replacement. The owners manual should outline that procedure. Otherwise you are going to out of need get a replacement.
the choke has 3 screws to adjust the unit, the choke itself will normaly be siezed inside at the age. With a warm engine, loosen the 3 screws and turn the choke untill the idle drops.
or as i did it-with a cold engine, remove the airffilter and with the 3 screws loose on the choke press the accelerator pedal just over half so the choke is engaged and the looking inside the filter housing adjust the choke flap by turning the choke housing until the flap is 3/4 closed and tighten slightly and start the car.Do remember to check your distributor timing whith a warm engine and make sure the sparkplugs and airfilter are okay as each upsets the other.
With the key sitting in the ignition but NOT on (not even accessories...the key is in in there but literally just about to fall out) push and hold the wrench button. Count 5 seconds, start the car while still pushing the wrench button and then push the min button on your clock. You must be holding the wrench button and the min button at the same time to reset the service message.
To test if you've reset properly, turn the car off and start it again. If you've reset properly the 'SERVICE NOW' will not appear and is automatically reset for 5k miles.
There is an electrical relay that is malfuctioning. I had the same problem on my 2000 VW Passat. I just got it fixed, part cost 48 dollars and labor will be about an hour.
I had the same problem. My 2008 Passat had to get a faulty rotator that controls the electrical part of the dashboard on the car.First the Air Fault light came on then my whole dashboard went out the next day. I had no horn, no radio, no lights on at all on the dashboard. It was that rotator part that controls the electrics. I was told they are faulty after a few months, they ordered a new one, installed and my car is good as new.
