SOURCE: Just bought 1991 Ford Probe lx v6 won't start

If you have spark and fuel (either via the injectors or spraying fluid into the intake), and still no evidence of firing, it suggests your valvetrain may not be working. If the valves can't open, the fuel cant get into the cylinder.

Do (or have done) a compression test. You may have a broken timing belt/chain.

P1151 means a lean bank 2 O2 sensor
P1152 Means a rich bank 2 O2 sensor
P1309 Means miss fire detected
I would check your fuel injector for fouling
When they foul the will develop a drip
Causing a fuel fluctuation that will have O2 sensors reporting rich and lean voltage changes
This causes the pcm to adjust injector pulses making them shorter and longer.
causing more fuel or less fuel.
From this condition you may see plug fouling.
Also check for leaking or faulty fuel pressure regulator or restricted return line.
Most of the time it wont be a bad O2 sensor the O2 sensor is just doing its job.
You also have already changed the plugs and Map so there already out of the way.
If this helps please give me some feed back
Hope this works for you FixYa

SOURCE: no gas or spark

Try your inertia switch in the cargo area in back. Its located on the passenger side rear wheel well. Push the button.

SOURCE: no spark, no start

Hi there:
You will have to pinpoint what the engine is missing... Spark / Fuel / Compression

All three of these are tested when the engine is being cranked over. There are two way of checking for fuel. Fuel pressure and fuel trigger. Both are very important and must be present for the engine to start. Fuel pressure is self explanatory. You just hook up the gage and see what the reading is. Fuel trigger is check with a noid light. The injector gets unplugged and the noid light gets plugged in to the injector clip. With the engine cranking over, this light must blink. This is the signal to the injectors from the computer. You can have all the fuel pressure in the world, but it wont matter if the injector is not pulsing gas into the cylinder like it should.

Compression tester, spark tester, fuel pressure gage and noid light are all accessible at your local auto store. All three tests play a very important part in diagnosing a no start condition. Be extremely careful when doing these tests.

Some Anti-Theft or system alarm there?

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Dose a 2000 taurus lx have a single or dual port fuel injection and is the coil pack for one cylinder or is it a pack for all cylinders?

depends on the type of engine. DOHC engine has coil on plug ignition system where the OHV has a coil pack with spark plug wires going to it. Both engines only have one fuel injector per cylinder.

Cranks wont start

A car that cranks over but doesn't start, in many cases will be due to a bad fuel pump, a broken timing belt, an inoperative cam sensor or crank sensor. Also these problems are related to faulty spark plug. Check the spark at spark plugs when you start the car. Do you notice any spark. Actually you should see. If in case there is no spark then it's a spark plug problem. Also the coil pack gives power to spark plug. So check the voltage at coil pack. It will show 12 volt. If there is no voltage noticed at coil pack then its faulty coil pack that has to be replaced. If all the possible options checked out ok then check the car starter. The starter gets power from battery to start the car. If the starter is faulty then it will not let the car to start. Also check and confirm that there is fuel in the car. If its very low fuel then in some cases this causes the problem. Also check and confirm that fuel pump is functioning properly and the fuel filter is not clogged. One of the easiest ways to check for a fuel pump related problem is to spray a little starting fluid into the air intake while trying to start the car. If the car starts momentarily, then there's a good chance the fuel pump is not working or the car is out of gas. You can also listen for the fuel pump's humming sound when the key is first turned on. Also if a inoperative fuel pump is suspected, a good technician will always check to verify there is power and ground being supplied to the pump, to eliminate the possibility of a bad relay or electrical issue. Fuel pressure can be checked with a pressure gauge and if there is pressure, pulse can be checked at the fuel injectors in several ways including the most common, with the use of noid lights. If the injectors don't have pulse the engine won't start. ---------- This troubleshooting tips will help you to solve the problem. Thanks. Helpmech.

My 1994 park ave, sometimes it starts, sometimes it wont, it does not matter if is is hot or cold, when it is running it runs smooth like there's nothing wrong. I replaced most of the fuel system, spark...

You have three choices. First, check the spark and coil system to ensure you are getting a spark. Pull off a plug wire from the coil pack and crank. Have someone watch to see sparks snapping off the coil pack. If you don't have any replace the control module under the coil packs.

Second, you may not be getting enough fuel pressure. Put a gauge on the fuel pressure test port. You may have a bad oil pressure sensor, located down above the oil filter. Check that oil pressure sender and make sure the connector is pushed in. The power to the fuel pump runs through the oil sender. If the engine starts and oil pressure doesn't come up quickly, the computer will shut off the fuel pump. Check this and you can also manually engage the fuel pump from the relay block down by the passenger feet.

Third choice, and it's a long shot, check the harmonic balancer and the crank position sensor. If the sensor is bad, the computer has no idea when to fire the spark plugs. A magnet is on the harmonic balancer and flys by a sensor to induce a voltage in the coil and tell the computer what position the crank is in.

You also may have a bad computer.

You can figure it out.

My 98 explorer turns over but will not start. The fuel pump kicks on for half a second, then immediately shuts off. Does anyone know how to go about fixing this?

your truck has two sensors that are in control. There is a camshaft sensor that controls when the fuel injectors open according to camshaft position. If this one is bad the fuel injectors wont open and the engine wont get any fuel.It also has a crankshaft sensor that is in control of allowing spark to the propor spark plug at the right time.If this sensor is bad you will not have any spark to any of the spark plugs. The fuel pump will only run for 2 to 3 seconds unless the motor starts,it is designed that way and it primes the fuel system and brings it up to pressure.(aprox 40 psi )

1999 ford escort wont start not firing no spark.

Check Engine Light on? It could be the "crankshaft position sensor" or the "camshaft position sensor", maybe the coilpack but, if it's the coil pack you should still have spark on two cylinders.

My 95 Ford Escort wont start, changed ignition module, ignition coil pack, crankshaft position sensor...if I change the computer will it have to be reprogrammed ? Trying to figure this out ran beautiful as...

I would listen for the fuel pump(take the gas cap off and listen for the buzz when someone turns the key on), if no buzz or whine then have them crank the engine. If still no noise then take a hammer and hit the middle of the gas tank while the car is being started(make sure E-brake is applied)If it starts it's your fuel pump.
