Question about Ford Thunderbird

When you first start the vehicle the light should come on then turn off if comes back on it should flash a couple of times first like morse code these flashes need to be counted, there could be long and short gaps between the flashes because there could be a couple of numbers in there. the codes guide a tech to what part is playing up
never connect a multimeter, probe or a test light to any part of an airbag circuit . DONT FORGET THEY ARE EXPLOSIVE air bags are one thing that i would suggest the dealers should be checking for you.
it may just be a case of clearing the code if you have had a flat battery that will often log as a fault i hope this helps

is this van new for you ? is it a status light letting you know that the airbag is loaded and ready for anypassenger that you have in your van ? do you have a key that you can turn it off in most vans there is an option to turn air bag on or off depending on size or opinion of passenger . im thinking that if its a status light its okay to be on letting you know its ready for opperation . take a look at your owners manual airbag section . and if it does turn out to be a warning malfunction indicator please dont waste time take it to your local dealer and have it checked out .hope this information helps good luck

There are a few things that can cause this, either the air bag itself going bad, or an airbag sending unit or brain going bad,

In most cases this problem is caused by the rotating ribbon circuit contact under the steering wheel having a broken filament, the part is known as a clock spring contact, u will need to properly disarm the airbag and remove the steering wheel to access the part. WARNING: Failure to follow factory Airbag disarming protocol can result in an unexpected Airbag deployment and possible serious personnel injury or death.

SOURCE: The service air bag light is on.
Sometimes the wiring under the passenger seat can become compromised from objects in floor becoming wedged under the seat.May need to be reconnected if possible..Usually if the air bag light remains on , it means the air bag will not engage if needed. Should have the dealer service department check for you.
