Also gheck the earths at the tail lights and if you have one check at the trailer plug the brake lights draw more power that the flashers so they could be drawing the earth through the flasher bulbs

Sounds like the turn blinker is shorted internally. Suggest you change it out, to test this.
My next check is that no wiring is melted and burned, such as can happen with any connection to tow a trailer. U-Haul has fine print that indemnify them of any problems they cause! have you towed anything recently?

check the ground on the signal lamp. If the signal blinks rapidly that indicates an overload condition. a bad conection can cause and overload as the circuit tries to overcome the unkown resistance.
