On some vehicles, the coolent sensor is located inside bottom of the coolant fill tank located by the fender. It should have a tube going to the radiator.
the one thing in your statment is the knockes/knocking this what is known as the big ends and indicates the engine is under pressure and needs a lot of repair. If when you start the engine when cold if you stand at the back of the car and if the smoke coming out of the exhaust has a blue tint/ie like a old ladys hair tint ,as im sure you will see.[bottom line] the engine needs replaced.adrian,,,,
You might have to purge the coolent system cause when you change stuff like that you normally have to bleed the the colent system. So what you have to do is run the car untill your temp gets to 195 degrees the cut the car off and let the coolent drain down and then refill and geep doing that untill you have heat.
the low coolant sensor is in the coolant bottle
take a hammer and use the HANDLE and tap the bottle were the sensor is you will see were the connector is that should shut the light off
sensor is in the coolant jug on right side of car. you will see a plug on bottom of tank this is sensor. A lot of times you can smack the jug a few times and this will jar the sensor it gets stuck sometimes. or pull off tank and clean out.
