My 2000 nissan navara 2.7 deisel wont start whenits cold

VG33 engine will have timing marks. a timing gun is also handy in these situations.

then starts again, and repeats??? gee.? or wont"?
fuel filter dirty?
bad fuel?
is it cold?
are the glow plugs ok
are warning lamps going unheeded? is the check engine light on running. did you scan the pcm for dtc errors?

Answer the following questions and you will win.
1. Are you getting fuel to the engine?
2. Are you getting a spark at the plugs?
3. Is your timing correct?
4. Is your compression good?

there is almost no way to miss align the flywheel! did you checked side by side for proper fit and all the slots matched , if you didn't i would get one fro the same place and match the old one, Also did you remove the sensor before replacing the flywheel? if you didn't you may have a broken sensor.

Put all the old plugs back in first and try that. Have you gapped the new plugs correctly? New air filter might mean that your fuel air mixture is too lean now so again to check try it with the old (Dirty)filter. If it starts you will have to think about the misture settings.

2002 is common rail with all fancy electrics and computers and stuff like that ,now this makes it very difficult for this old fleet fitter who used to repair diesels with nothing more complicated than a vacumn controlled speed govenor ,where we used to re-calibrate the injector pump on the vehicle .I think this fault is either something simple like a plastic bag in the fuel tank that gets caught up in the pick up pipe ,failing which its a complicated electronic issue of which i confess to knowing nothing about

to check if you can try hitting the starter, with a hammer or bar. if it starts, it's the starter for sure. you can also jump the posts on the starter, the small one to the big one, if it starts and the starter sounds normal you will have to check the small wire/ignition wire and switch. if *** justs clicks or does nothing it's the starter. let me know
