I have a 1999 f150 truck and my charging system light is coming on and the engine is skipping...would that cause my truck to do that?

Your battery may not be holding its charge. Charge the battery and take a voltage reading. Then after a few hours take another reading andsee if the voltage has dropped. If that is alright, refit the battery to the car. turn off all the electrics anddo a voltage test. If the battery is discharging then ou will have to find what componant is drawing the voltage. I normally check the boot through the rear seats first.

no the coolant wouldn't cause the light to come on,and yes if you don't have the know how to buy and attach an obdii code reader to your truck then you will have to take it to a garage to be sure what the problem is........however the check engine light is a warning that something is experiencing a problem but correction of the problem doesn't have to be immediate, if you can't afford it or don't have the time to have it looked at right away.(keep in mind that with the light on your computer is in limp mode and you will see a drop in fuel mileage)But to get the light to go out you need to either disconnect the battery for 5-10 min or have someone check and reset the light.if you do the battery disconnect to reset it the light may not come back on for some time or may come on right away.last winter i had the light come on for an o2 sensor heater.........i reset the code and never saw it again. so if you can try the battery disconnect reset first if the light comes back on then take it to a garage.
hope this helps!

yes , if it is sparking to ground or from the coil , but if it is comming off the wires down by the coil then its the wires (maybe laying on a hot point of the engine)
but also check the wires all the way to the coil to see if they maybe sparking somewhere along the way

with proper scan tool check FICM fuel injector control module main power should be 47 volts key on engine off 47.5 engine running if not replace FICM it has an internal problem also there may be a reflash available for drivability issues at the ford dealer this is not uncommon for 2004-2006 6.0s. keep me posted goodluck!

maybe a fuse is blown? did you have the mechanic check the fuses? or even check all your relays and wiring?
