VICS Valve Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started.

Possible Causes:


Open or short to chassis ground between VICS valve and ECM.Faulty VICS valve.

P1159 - variable induction motor rotation.. plastic gears stripped on the variable intake shaft-motor gearset.. PCM drives motor, sensor is watching shaft movement, but no movement seen.... $500 for intake plenum alone..

p1191 fuel rail pressure sensor circuit low.

P1195- tps sensor low voltage.

Take it to autozone or another auto parts store to run a diagnostic for free and see what they say

P1159 means that the ECM cannot get confirmation that it has successfully changed intake geometry. I'm not sure that would be enough to make the engine run rich, but it's probably worth a check, especially since the motor is easy to get to and you've already replaced the MAF.

Have someone rescan the computer wiyh a good scan tool, p1159 is not a good code for a 2001 xg300,

CODE P1159 INTAKE MANIFOLD AIR CONTROL ACTUATOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION. CODE PO431 - WARM UP CATALYTIC CONVERTER BANK 2 EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD CODE PO122 - THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR OR ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR LOW INPUT.

P1191/P1193 Limp Home Valve - Low RPM

First, clean the throttle body and check for anything which might obstruct AIR FLOW to it.

The P1159 is the Variable Intake Motor Malfunction. this motor is either 'OPEN'... or 'CLOSED' position. It is located on/in the intake manifold (plenum) and is only opened when cruising... it is closed at idle. If it sticks 'OPEN' is can cause drivability issues.

clean up all ground wires but you may need both of those items
