2000 Ford f 150 dome lights blink on

2000 is before LEDs were widely used, so let's assume these are incandescent lamps.

Since you said "lights" (not "light") there must be more than one, and they must be both blinking. That rules out lamps and sockets.

Now, your question isn't clear. (Way too many questions on Fixya are insufficiently clear.)

A. Do they blink on and off when you are driving down the road at night?
or
B. Do they blink instead of coming fully on when you open a door? Try both driver and passenger doors and see if there's a difference.

Answer to A:
When you turn the dash lights to maximum brightness, the dome lights come on by design. It's a feature so you can read a map or find a dropped item at night without opening the door. If you turn the dash lights down a little, the dome lights go off. But if you leave that control right on the edge, the lights will blink on and off. Just turn the dash light brightness down a tiny bit.

Answer to B:
If they blink when either door is open, the problem is NOT in the door switch. If there are multiple dome lights, the most likely suspect is a fuse which isn't quite blown. Read your manual to figure out which fuse controls the dome lights and replace it.

If they blink when only one of the doors is open, the problem is with the switch on that door. These switches are typically mounted on the car body, near the door hinges. They have only one wire. When the button is in the OUT position, the switch connects that wire to the car body (called "ground") and the lights illuminate. When the button is IN, there's no current flow. The problem that happens with these switches is that they connect to the car body only by the spring clips that mount them. A little rust or corrosion and they don't conduct any more. If one of the buttons (maybe driver's side) is responsible for the blinking, first try pumping the button in and out a few times with your thumb (more travel than it gets from the door). Then maybe spray some WD-40 around the button. As a last resort, use a screwdriver to pop the switch out of the body, clean the spring clips and body, then pop the switch back in.

Why do the instrument panel lights turn off when I turn on the headlamps?

Head light switch controls the brightness of the dash lights. Looks like it's the problem.

1991 sable dash lights go out

Have you tried to replace the headlight switch? I ask that because you say the radio and clock go out, with the headlights on clock and radio go dim, so not so bright at night but bright in day to see them. So maybe the switch is bad?

No dash lights when headlights are turned on. Everything works fine on my vehicle EXCEPT today the panel lights don't work. Turn signals, hazard blinker, oil gauge, rpm gauge, speedometer, drive shift...

there is a regulator for the display brightness, you may have it turn'd down or it has stopped working;. it controls the brightness at which the dash lights are. usually has a speedo sign on it. goes up and down. it works with the main light and is conecter to them on the same lighting board if it has gone then a new light swtch control switch will be needed.

Check and see if the lights come on with the passenger door, if so you have a defective courtesy light switch inside the door.

Over night the battery is dead

Put a 12v test light between the positive terminal and the battery cable. If the light is bright the draw is to much.A dim light is fine.if the light is bright, plug one fuse at a time until light dims.DO NOT cause a draw by leaving a door open etc while testing.DO NOT try and start the car or turn the key on during this test.Once you have found the fuse that causes the most draw,if you want to save $ you can just pull this fuse overnight or wire that circuit with a relay to unpower it when the vehicle is switched off.
