Bottom of oil pan. There is a little plastic door on the steel skid plate below the car. open the plastic door and you can see the plug.

Depends on the engine, if its a M62, its under the hood, torwards the front drivers side. 9e6fcd7.jpgIf it a N62, it is on the underside of the vehicle, next to the oil drain plug. Its the black plastic housing with a 6mm allen bolt in it(thats used to drain the oil out before removal)25e2e14.png

SOURCE: I have a 2003 BMW X5, how do I reset the service indicator?

Hi,

You can reset your service indicator, as follows:

  1. Get in the car, close the door, buckle the seatbelt.
  2. Push in the clutch pedal and hold it to the floor
  3. Press the left hand dash button (the one that resets your odometer) and hold it down
  4. Put the ignition key in the key slot, and turn it gently (very gently) until the dashboard lights come on - the key will not click - if it clicks you've gone too far and you have to start again. Hold the key in this position. In five seconds or so, the dash will display "SIA" and some other characters. Do not proceed until this happens.
  5. Release the dash button (and only the dashboard button) and then press and hold it again. In another 5 seconds or so the display should begin to flash "RESET?" Do not proceed until this happens.
  6. Release the dash button and push it again to confirm. You won't need to hold it - the display should change immediately and your service indicator will display five green LED's.
Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this answer. Many Thanks.

SOURCE: location of Mercedes 2003 C320 oil drain plug

This answer is completely wrong. The oil plug is under the car underneath the second plastic aero panel from the front of the car. Second, the 3.2 litre engine takes 8.5 quarts of oil and not 5 as this will be seriously under filled. Your compter display in your dash will tell you this when it beeps, turns red and reads, add more oil. It also alerts you when the oil has been overfilled because there is NO dipstick on this car. The only dipstick here is the one giving the wrong advise.

The fuel filter is located under the fuel tank. Here is a link to give detailed instructions on how to do this.

My 2003 x5 bmw 4.6is, makes a knocking noise in the Engine upon stating it up, but usually goes away after a few seconds.

Sounds like excess bearing clearance, when the engine sits overnight the oil between the bearings and the crankshaft is able to run back into the oil pan. When you first start it up it takes a few seconds for the oil pump to fill the spaces back up and you get some clatter.

Bmw x5 how to flush oil

You shouldnt have to flush oil a few times. If you are going to switch to synthetic oil, all you have to do is drain it well, and filter, and change oil. If you are switching to synthetic, it is recommended that you stay with using synthetic for the life of the vehicle though. Synthetic is a good altunative. Works good

Where is the oil filter located?

The engine oil filter is located just right of center if standing in front of the car. By removing the LARGE Black cap with the 36mm nut you will expose the filter element, make sure to do this before draining the oil from the drain plug in the pan. Otherwise the filter will still hold oil until loosened a bit. A typical oil change should go like this.
1. Engine Hot, not running, Loosen filter housing, don't remove yet.
2. Drain Oil, Replace plug.
3. Remove and Replace filter and O-Rings
4. Add oil.
