My mazda familia 323 turbo 1800 doc is have a boost problim the factory boost is comeing on @ -8psi and and over boost buzzer kicking in and cuting @ 4-5 psi and wont hit limiter in neutral it only revs to 6000 rpm its all factory. i do have a boost gauge.
Sounds like the waste gate is having trouble. It could be what's called a "boost leak". the waste gate is most likely internal on a factory system. On the turbo, You'll see a small, vacuum pod looking thing with a linkage connected. Check to make sure the vacuum line/hose is properly connected and run that line to make sure it's not cracked some where.
Otherwise, it could be any coupler, connection on the pipes that carry the air from the turbo to the throttle body. Even a "loose clamp" can cause boost leaks. With over boost, it's most likely the waste gate.
Good luck. Hope ya find it.

I have a Mazda Capella (626) 1998 and had similar problem other than it was running on 4 cylinders and the hand brake light was not on but speedometer was not functioning and the ABS light was on. The rear ABS senssor was the problem.

Two things...
You should follow the pin numbers and not the color code.
Second
Check online for a service manual from Japan or the USA for that car. We got many Mazda imports here and there should be a lot of books on Ebay that would have the electrical schematics for a 323 from the USA and Canada.
You are going to have to just buy a book and have it shipped to NZ.

Im not an expert by any means but it sounds like you are running out of fuel in the combustion chamber (or lean) and setting off the cars knock sensor. It seems to me there are several fuel pumps available on ebay eluding to the fact that they were a weak component. be extremely careful "pinging" is extremely BAD for the pistons and block. keep out of hard boost until you solve issue.

Sorry buddy, but the selunoids valves are not good, when you remove the trans filter you will find. A good mechanic could do the job because if you do not install the wires properly it will be a mess.
