SOURCE: how to change a serpentine belt

You sent the additional question in the Solution portion of the other original posting...I just happened to stumble upon it when you rated me a "2" out of "4" on the original Posting/Question. A "2" is not good for my 94% Rating!
As far as step-by-step:
The Tensioner Pulleys have two (2) types:
1. If it has an Adjustment Nut located near it: Loosen (counterclockwise) the nut. You will see the Pulley and Belt moving, loosening the belt.
2. The other type of Tensioner is an Automatic Tensioner. The standard rule with these is to move the Tensioner Pulley (it has a strong spring keeping it in place) in the direction of:
(a) Away from the Belt (contact with the Pulley portion).
(b) Towards the open area of the Pulley = towards the direction where the Belt is not iin contact with the Pulley.

Again: Let me know if this helped you, or if you have any additional information or questions. Feel Free to contact me at FixYa.com! And please don't use a "2". And yes you may change your original Rating from 2 to 4 if you wish....

SOURCE: serpentine belt replacement

there is usually a tensioner pulley that keeps the belt tight. With the correct size wrench you would turn the pulley either cw or ccw (in turning the bolt in the middle of the pulley it will not loosen the bolt but actually relieve spring tension)to release tension on the belt and then remove the belt. be sure to note how it is routed around all the pulleys so it goes back on correctly. keep in mind i don't know what your car looks like but i have never seen a different procedure. i always buy a chiltons manual when i get a car so i have a handy referance for such jobs

SOURCE: i need the diagram to repalce a serpentine belt on a 2004 kia opt

You need a service and repair manual for that vehicle, about 15 or 20 bucks at any parts store, and some librarys.

Click on the following free, direct Link. It has the Serpentine Belt Diagrams you will need.

http://www.2carpros.com/car_repair_information/year/2005/make/kia/model/sedona/2005_kia_sedona_drive_belt_routing_diagram.htm

On the Serpentine Belt: Scroll down the Link Page to Diagram G00323207, it shows the Tensioner.
1. Loosen the Pulley Lock Nut - identified as "A"
2. Loosen the Adjustment Bolt - identified as "B"
3. The Tensioner Pulley should move up and slightly to the left, loosening the belt enough to remove.

Installation is the reverse of the above.
Note on Diagram G00323206 the deflection tolerance at the 22 lbs pressure on the belt.

Let me know if this helped, or if you have additional information or questions. Feel Free to contact me at FixYa.com!

Is there a serpentine belt diagram for the 2010 Kia Optima?

This is for 010 optima, 2.7L-- belt. I had to go to paint and draw it, so it isn't perfect. Hope it's good enough.

Does anyone know how to remove the serpentine belt from 2010 Kia Forte ex? I rented the tool to remove it but it's too thick. Unless the pulley I'm trying to get to is not the tensioner pulley.

I don't know if Kia use the technology but you should be aware an increasing number of engines have no tensioning jockey pulley but instead use an elastic belt. Manufacturers say cut off that type of belt and replace. A simple fitting tool is supplied with a new belt.
I have yet to encounter one even though they have been around for some years but a colleague has managed to remove and refit that sort of belt.
