We need more info on just how you damaged the harness plug. If it is just the clip that locks it on to the pcm (the proper name of the computer on a jeep is Powertrain Control Module) simply wrap the unit with a zip tie to lock it in place. pulled tight a cable tie will hold tighter than the plastic clip on the plug,

You say you changed the cam sensor. A1391 code is a crank sensor on the top of the trans. bell housing.

SOURCE: 1998 Jeep Cherokee - hard to start

My 98 Cherokee was the exact same. I used to have to turn the key back and forth 3 times and then it would start. Otherwise it would just crank and crank for a while and then start. Pretty embarrassing! Took it to the dealer and they said that my fuel pump was losing pressure. I changed the fuel pump and I don't have to prime the pump anymore.

yah direct ignition coil pack does away for the need a a distributer cap and rotor.much higher energy ignition system where the computer tell when to fire.if that helps.not hard to change.as long as you change them one at a time so you don't screw up the order.

How to fix error code p1391 on 1998 jeep cherokee sport

did you erase the code? if code is not cleared it acst same way even if you installed a new sensor.

if not cleared, you can do either using obd2 scanner or you can just try to disconnect (-) of your battery for 15 minutes. it i will relearn every thing after 2 or 3 warm ups, and will start to idle ok.

I have a 1998 jeep grand cherokee limited 5.2 v8 and I'm not getting any spark. I changed the coil, plugs. wires, cap, button, and crank sencer. Still no spark any ideas.

NEXT YOU WILL NEED TO FIND OUT IF ECM ..MAIN COMPUTER IS POWERING UP,,,,FIRST THING IS TO TURN KEY TO THE RUN POSITION....DOES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON IF NOT CHECK FUSES... IF SO NEXT STEP IS TO MAKE SURE THE SYSTEM IS NOT IN AUTO SHUTDOWN MODE.. YOU CAN CHECK THIS BY USING A TEST LIGHT AND CONFIRMING THERE IS VOLTAGE ON COIL DURING CRANKIN...LOOKS LIKE COULD BE BAD ECM MAIN COMPUTER.. GIVE ME THE ANSWERS TO THOSE QUESTIONS FIRST AND I WILL TELL YOU NEXT STEP

I cant get the new back brake pad on my 98 jeep grand cherokee

If the caliper is damaged it will not allow the piston to be retracted enough to put the pad in, use a caliper compression tool, available at most parts stores to compress it, otherwise the caliper may need to be replaced.
