I would check your wiring that goes to that fuse cause it's currently getting to many amps going through it causing it to blow. Something is sending to many volts through the wires that lead to that fuse. Recheck the wiring you've already done and make sure you didn't disturb any other wires in the process

Code 12 doesn't correlate, but Code 1282 may provide some insight. Code 1282 is "The fuel pump relay circuit seems to be having a problem", which would explain the disconnect/reconnect trick that sporadically works. Have the relay circuit looked at.

Was the old fuel pump bad? It might be worth the cost to replace the ignition switch. The wires to the fuel pump would be a second guess if the old pump was bad and burnt the wires before the fuse went. When you eliminated the fuel pump you also eliminated the wires to the pump and it started. Then you replaced the pump, but not the wires. The ignition switch is the other end of the circuit.

Have you had the fuel pump checked. How long since fuel filter was changed.

There is a strainer on the fuel pump that doesn`t normally need changed until fuel pump repacement.There is a filter on the inside of frame rail about where the driver door is.
